Start Operations In 1948
Probably the new Coca-Cola bot
tllng plant under construction at
Main and Spring will not be In
operation until 1048, Ray Lamb,
president of the stockholders, ad
vised today.
The building, started In March,
1048, Is completed with the excep
tion of work which cannot be done
until the machinery Is Installed.

1947 at the earliest..
Production at Chicago has been
delayed since the war, due to strikes
and other reasons, Lamb said. In
the meantime, work is progressing
at the plant, finishing all the de
tails that can be completed before
the machinery arrives.
When bottling operations are
started at the Klamath plant, it
wt)l be capable of filling 1600 cases
of 24 bottles each, per day, Lamb
said. The syrup will come from
Portland as It does now, ready for
bottling. There are three Coca-Cola
syrup manufacturers on the West
coast, the one In Portland, one In
San Francisco and one in Los An
geles. Bottling plants are Independently
owned just as car agencies. A group
of stockholders, headed by Lamb,
purchased the presently operated
concern at 665 Spring, from the
Klamath Ice and Storage company
In 1939, and has been supplying
Coca-Cola for Klamath basin resi
dents from this location continu
ously since that dale.
