Newspaper Page TextFort Klamath FORT KLAMATH Mrs. Lor en M. Streeter is recovering lowly from a 6evere leg injury received in a recent accidental fall at her home at the Strectcr ranch northeast of Fort Klam ath. Mrs. Alfred B. Caslel Sr.. of Fort Klamath, accompanied by her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Alfred B Caster Jr.. of Chiloquin. was a business visitor in Klamath Falls last week, and also on Thursday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bricco and family were Klamath Falls business visitors and shoppers on Friday. A number of local residents have been suffering from influ enza which has been in a mild form. Mr. and Mrs. Harry En gle were both ill at the same time but have now recovered. During Mrs. Englc's absence from her duties as chief oper ator at the local telephone of fice, Mrs. Ival Knox acted as re lief worker in her place. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Belden have returned to Fort Klamath from Redding, Calif., where they spent the winter months. Mrs. Belden is the daughter of Loren L. Miller Sr., well-known local stockman. Mr. and Mrs. William C. Hack ler. Mrs. William A. Page and Mrs. Joe Taylor returned home last Thursday by way of Eu gene after spending Wednesday night at Roseburg after having attended the funeral services held there Wednesday afternoon for the late Jim Dixon, pioneer Wood River valley resident, and native of Roseburg. Mrs. Frank Denton has re turned from a visit with her sis ter, Mrs. Clara Beall, at Areata. Calif. Martin Hansen went to the Klamath marsh Wednesday, where lie will be employed by J. P. McAuliffe on his new ranch property, the former Lenz ranch which McAuliffe purchased sev eral months ago. Mrs. Frank Edwards returned to her home in Fort Klamath Monday after receiving surgery in Klamath Falls Saturday. Mrs. Edwards is getting along nicely following the operation, but is still under a doctor's care. Chiloquin Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wilson of Prineville were Easter week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Todd Dcffenbacher and of Mrs. Dolores Sche. . a An April Fool's Day party drew a number of pre-teen-agers to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Folk Haddock with their three daugh ters acting as hostesses. Those attending were Marjorie and Jean Reed, Vernon Joe, Edward Brautlacht, Donna and Richard Clark, Kay Heglund, Stanley Miller. Winifred, Jane and Ellen Haddock. Mrs. Ruby Flury. hor daughter Jane, and Elvera Erickson of Dorris. Calif., spent the latter part of the week in Medford. A layette shower was given on Friday" evening. April 4. at the Williamson river ranch home of Mrs. Homer Holt for Mrs. John N. Plouffe. Guests of the eve ning were Mrs. Ivan Doak. Mrs. George Reed. Mrs. E. K. Smith, Mrs. Lee Hatcher, Mrs. Wayne Nichaus, Mrs. Walter Pohll. Mrs. Harold Collins and the co-hostesses Mrs. Daisy Holt and Mrs. Homer Holt. "Ez" Meeker, formerly of Klamath Falls, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Albert on Wednesday evening. For the past eight years Meeker has been in Arabia, an employe of Hhe Standard Oil company, and had some fascinating stories to tell of his experiences. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Freid spent Easter week-end with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. L. S. Buck in Elkton. Ure. A former resident. Bill John ' son. who after his navy discharge ; has lived in Redding. Calif., was in town on Saturday visiting with former acquaintances. Mrs. Connie Barker of Merrill was an overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Albert the latter part of the week. Refreshed by a week of vaca tion, students and teachers began on Monday morning to finish the last seven weeks which will be unusually busy ones. The sched ule of events to come include the dance for the support of the annual, a freshmen return party, thanks for last fall's initiation. senior skip day, the junior re ception for the seniors followed by the prom, final exams, bac calaureate, and graduation. The Methodist church has been selected by the senior class for its baccalaureate service which will be held on Sunday, May 18, with the Rev. James Zcllcr, Junior high school in structor as well as resident min ister, conducting the service. Mary Monks, who has had but one "2" to change the looks of a straight "1" card, has been selected as valedictorian and Bonnie Giengcr who runs a close second will be salutatorian. Ann McKell, a Junior, will play the processional and recessional for graduation, Don Miller, prin cipal, is beginning rehearsal with the glee club for special music. At this time of year, specula tion runs high as to the winners of the underclass Robert Musk rat trophy, given last year by the previous winners of the Par ent Teachers association cup in honor of one of their members who lost his life during World War II, and of the PTA cup itself. Little four-year-old Benny Ny gren who lives with his grand mother, Mrs. Pearl Nygren at Williamson River, and Benny's tiny cousin, Linda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nygren of Klamath Falls, were both bap tized at the Klamath Lutheran church Friday evening. April 4. Mrs. Henry Porter entertained at a dinner-card party in honor of her husband's birthday on Saturday evening, April 5. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. John A comb. Mr. and Mrs. Mel Lange, Mrs. Ruby Flury, Cliff Olson and Clayton Nichols. Little youngsters attired in their Easter finery presented, a sweet religious program Easter morning at the Methodist church, the primary department sang sev eral songs and the intermediate department gave a skit explain ing the relation of the bunny, eggs, new clothes and the true Easter story. Fifteen young peo ple took part in that section of the program. In addition, many little youngsters spoke "pieces." some in tiny lisps and some with the clearness of professionals. Those who spoke were Lylc Hull, Bob Kellison, John Parker, Clark Zadma, "Sonny" Haddock, Judy Collins, Ray and Viola Jacobsou, Clark Bray, Melvin Ohles, Mary Lee Collins, Janet Clark, Bill Priaulx, Orlan Kirk, Dora and Bill Broolry. Mrs. Lou Kellison is spending several weeks in San Francisco under a doctor's treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobsou of Oak land. Calif., spent last week-end with their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Holgar Jacobsou. The two families made an over night trip to visit relatives near Prineville, Ore., on Saturday and Sunday. The Hans Jacobsons used to live in Chiloquin years ago.
