The Portland Rose Festival the week of June 9, the Pendle ton Roundup, September 10-13, the Astoria Salmon Derby the week of August 30, the state fair beginning September 1, Sa lem's revived cherry fair in mid-July, the Seaside Miss Ore gon pageant July 25-27, the Eu gene Oregon Trail pageant, July 24-26, are among the head liners, interspersed with agri cultural festivals, Indian huckle berry feasts, pioneer picnics, flower shows and other pictur esque fetes. Wendland, 921 Prospect, are parents of a son, their first child, born Saturday at Klam ath Valley hospital. Wendland is a lineman with The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph com pany. Card Party Group 2 of the Altar society of Sacred Heart Catholic church will hold a card party in the parish hall at 8 p. m., Wednesday. The public is cordially invited. Police Spend Busy Day Four teen-age boys driving a gray Ford registered to Glenn Kerr of Ashland were reported to police last night as they changed cars at N. 2nd and Jef ferson, leaving in the other car, then drove back after a short while and hurriedly tossed a pair of fender skirts into the Ford, which sped away followed by the second car. The officers are puzzled by the actions, but be lieve the incident may be a clue to the numerous car prowlings ir Klamath Falls lately. State Police Officer Bill Col bert also reported to the city police that he stopped two men in a car on E .Main who were driving along slowly looking over all the buildings along the street. In the car he found a five-gallon can and section of hose which the men finally ad mitted was for procuring gaso line. No action was taken against them, but officers are keeping their eyes open. W. C. Myers, 2026 Applegate, reported that the hub caps were taken from - his car last night. R. F. Elledge. 630 Pine, reported two plastic side walls stolen from his car. An officer from: the Lane cotinty sheriffs office was in town Monday, to take custody of Jim R. Roos on a charge of larceny by bailee in Eugene. Roos was arrested here recently with another man for selling al legedly stolen property. Six drunks found .a place to sleep at the city lock-up during the night. Lanqell Valley The Murrays, who ran the Lorella store in Langell valley for 10 years and are well known in Klamath county, are quite successful with the fishing boat he bought at Eastside in Coos county where they now reside. They sold their Langell valley property in December, 1946, to Cecil Forcier. A picture of the Murrays with one of the biggest catches of striped bass for the year was pub lished recently in the Coos Bay Times, and copies of the picture were sent to friends here. "Stop talking in your sleep, Senate Police Check Car Prowls Juvenile authorities were eiven little sleep over the week end when several cases were brought to their attention, de manding lengthy investigation. One occurred early Sunday morning when a teen-age girl is said to nave been the ring leader in a car prowl which city ponce nipped in the bud. The girl was remanded to juvenile court. Others involved included Wil lis Pig'. 21, 4316 Freida; Free land McLeod, 19. 253 Martin: Berdean Pearce, 18, 319 Martin, and Jacqueline Newland, 18, 212 Gage road. Charges were to be filed late today against the four, according to the district attor ney's office, the severity to be studied prior to the filing. Dr. Tillotson Dies At 81 Dr. Demetrius Tillotson, 81-ycnr-old retired Mothodlst min ister and father of Mitchell Til lotsun, manager of the KInmuth Falls branch of the First National bank, died at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at his homo in Green castle. Ind. Tillotson left hero by plane late yesterday and was with members of his family in Greencustle this morning. Dr. Tillotson had visited in tho west on numerous occasions and was known to many in this sec tion of southern Oregon, Mo was graduated with the class of 18111) from Northwestern university and the major portion of his min istry was spent In Indiana, lie served as superintendent of a large Methodist hospital in that state and also the Presbyterian hospital In Denver, Colo., for a time. Dr. Tillotson was also dis trict superintendent of tho Meth odist church In Indiana and a few years before his retirement served as field secretary on the board of DePauw university at Grecncastle. Death was attributed to ail ments of his yeurs. Dr. Tillotson was 81 years of age last March 26, and became 111 the day before his birthday. Ho leaves his wife, Anna, three sons and one daugh ter. Sackett Eyes Move To Spokane, Boise PORTLAND, April 8 P) Expansion of his newspaper in terests to Spokane and Boise is planned by Sheldon F. Sackett of Coos Bay, he said in a tele gram made public last night at the Jackson Day dinner here. There was no elaboration. The boys are then said to have moved tho beer to tho vicinity of the Teen-Age canteen at the armory, distributed It In several cars and the contents consumed by those Involved as well as several others. Directors of the canteen called cltv police and the five ordered to appear at the police stat from where they were turned over to Juve nile authorities. None of the beer was consumed in the canteen.
