Juveniles In , Custody Two 1 1 - year old youngsters who escaped from the county Juvenile cottage on Summers lane last night were luck in custody this morning after spending several hours strolling around the eastern suburbs of town clad in pajamas and bath robes. The boys, one of them held for house burglary and the other for car prowls, removed the screen mesh from their room window at the cottage and squeezed through the bars about 9 o'clock last night. Ankeny Bail Cut Denied A request for reduction of the set bail made by Lewis H. Ankeny and his attorney, Ben Anderson, was denied yester day afternoon by Circuit Judge David R. Vandcnberg. Ankeny, former stockholder, has been indicted for embezzle ment and larceny by bailee, and held In the countv Jail in lieu of S10.000 bail, $5000 on each charge. When arraigned yesterday afternoon he asked that the bail be reduced to S3000, but the motion was denied. District Attorney Clarence A. Humble said that he had no recommen dation to make in the matter. After the two indictments were read to Ankeny, he was given until March 3 to decido upon a plea. Stokes, 21, war veteran seeking a default decree from his 20-year-old wife, Iva, testified yesterday he would pay towards the child's support but wanted to give it to her and another man she i interested in, Judge Meakim exclaimed: "What Is this, a lottery? I am not impressed by a man who won't fight for his own child." His wife wants to marry the other man and he has given per mission, Stokes said, for him to adopt the child after its expected birth in April. His parents, in Ellcnsburg. are unable to care for it and he can not do so him self. "I will represent the child, and will take this case under advise ment until after the baby is born," Judge Meakim ruled. The Stokes were married at Ellcnsburg October 31. 1944.
