Church Women Slate Meeting New officers of the Klamath Falls Council of Church Women will be installed at a meeting slated for Monday, January 27, at 2 p. m. in the parlors ot the First Presbyterian church, 6th and Pine. The Rev. David F. Barnctt of the Presbyterian church will conduct the installa tion service. Hazel Morrison has been re elected president of the council, first vice president: Mrs. w. u. DeWitt, second vice president; Mrs. A. W. Cowman, secretary; Mrs. Charles Revell, treasurer, and Mrs. John Yadon, historian. The year's program will be planned with particular em phasis on the world way oi Prayer, to be held this year on February 21. At the meeting's close the women of the Presby terian church will serve tea. All church women arc cordial ly invited. Chicken Thieves Draw Stiff Fines NEWBERG, Jan. 24 (P) Gene Wilklns, Robert Gates and Mrs. Lois Parks were fined 50 each and sentenced to 30 days in jail yesterday on conviction of a charge of stealing three chickens for a dinner. Mrs. Park's sen tence was suspended. Testimony was that they were prize chickens, the rooster alone valued at $100. Residential Track Opened Yalta Gardens, the new acre residential tract, was of ficially opened January 18 by Harvey Martin and E. Gray, realtors. The tract extends between Shasta way and S. Oth and be tween Wlard and Homednle and commands a view of the town and of Mt. Shasta. It was pur chased In 1943 from Dewltt Smith of San Francisco and Is the former Walt Smith home stead. The name "Yalta Gardens" was suggested by the late C. S. Robertson, president of the First Federal Savings and Loan, when the tract was wiscussed. It was the time of the big three confer ence at Yalta, and the late Presi dent Roosevelt's comment upon his return was that Yalta was such a "beautiful and peaceful Dlace." Construction on the subdivi sion was started about 10 months ago. All underground irrigation for the entire tract is now in, several homes have already been completed and sold and several moro are under construction. The truct has been divided Into 93 homcaltcs and is open exclusively to veterans. One portion has beun dedicated to a park for the home owners and landscaping ot this area will be commenced soon.
