Residential
Track Opened
Yalta Gardens, the new
acre residential tract, was of
ficially opened January 18 by
Harvey Martin and E. Gray,
realtors.
The tract extends between
Shasta way and S. Oth and be
tween Wlard and Homednle and
commands a view of the town
and of Mt. Shasta. It was pur
chased In 1943 from Dewltt
Smith of San Francisco and Is
the former Walt Smith home
stead. The name "Yalta Gardens"
was suggested by the late C. S.
Robertson, president of the First
Federal Savings and Loan, when
the tract was wiscussed. It was
the time of the big three confer
ence at Yalta, and the late Presi
dent Roosevelt's comment upon
his return was that Yalta was
such a "beautiful and peaceful
Dlace."
Construction on the subdivi
sion was started about 10 months
ago. All underground irrigation
for the entire tract is now in,
several homes have already been
completed and sold and several
moro are under construction. The
truct has been divided Into 93
homcaltcs and is open exclusively
to veterans.
One portion has beun dedicated
to a park for the home owners
and landscaping ot this area will
be commenced soon.
