Annual Program The Jayceettcs held their an nual Chrlstmaa party and pro gram at the Presbyterian church on Wednesday evening, Decem ber 11. Hostesses were Mrs. Clifford Jay and Mrs. Betty Ball. In charge of the program and exchange of gifts were Mrs. Fred Bichn and Mrs. Wesley Guder Ian. At tlu short business meeting which preceded the party, mem bers voted to sponsor four Girl Scout troops and to donate lo the iron lung fund. Mrs. Forrest H. The Venture club is the servlco club for young business women. Kappa Chapter Members of Kappa chapter, Beta algma Phi, mcl at tne home of Mrs. James Crapo, 1130 Lin coln street, on Thursday evening, December 14. Mrs. Eldon Phalr conducted the lovely pledge ceremony by candlelight at which time Mrs. Charles Bonney was pledged to the chapter. The cultural program was given by Mrs. Layton Sleight. whose topic was "Substance of the Art of Life the Good." Following the meeting the members enjoyed their Christ mas gift exchange. As the party was also to observe the founding of Kappa chapter, a beautifully decorated birthday cake was served by the hostess at the close of the evening. Rice, last Monday. On December 18, Dian cele brated her third birthday. A number of little friends were guests at a birthday party in her honor. The party was held at the Don Rice home, 1930 Huron, A gum drop tree encircled with holly and silver leaves was the pretty centerpiece on the party table. Rooms were decor ated with traditional Christmas bells, Santa Clauses and finery. Guests were Dian. Philip. Stephen and Martha Hitchcock, Jeannle Burnett, Carmel Hartln, Jimmy Porter. Gift Exchange The Wednesday club met at the parish house of St. Paul's Episcopal church this week to hold its annual Christmas party and exchange gifts around the lighted Christmas tree, Bridge awards went to Mrs. C. Sncrcd hymns and Christmas car ols were sung by the group, and one group told the story of Hol land's first Christmas. Simla Clnus, played by Otto Smith, then distributed bags of candy to the boys. Violet Pleser, assisted by Jean Holland, Bertha Harlan and Ann Snider was in charge of the games, and refresh ments were served by Rose igl and Jean Moore, co-chairmen of tho committee, assisted by par ents of the boys.. About SO boys and their parents attended. Mr. and Mrs, Paul Keller, week-end to spend Christmas Humphrey and Mrs. J. Keller. It will really be a reunion in the E. D. Johnson family. Lt. and Mrs. Stuart Nelson and their small daughter, Genevieve, will fly to Portland from Jackson ville, Fla., where Dr. and Mrs. E. D. Johnson will meet them. C. Woodruff of Pacific Terrace. Word has been received in Klamath Fajls that Dr. and Mrs Robert David Payne arc tcm porarily stationed at Rcdbank, N. J. Mrs. Payne is the former Virginia bubo, daughter of Mr and Mrs. E. M. Bubb of High street. Janice Bubb, another daughter, is working for the gov ernment at Santa Fe, N. M. Mr. and Mrs. John G. Scott of Eugene will spend Christmas with Mrs. Scott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Deverc Helfrich of Georgia street, and her sister, Mrs. H. B. Runnels. Before her marriage in November. Mrs. Scott was Delores Helfrich. Annual Party The Mothers' club of Sacred Heart academy will hold its annual Christmas party for sis ters of the academy at 1:30 Sun day, December 22. There will be a Christmas tree, gifts for the sisters, and all the festivity of the season. AH members of the parish are Invited and urged to attend. Luncheon Meeting Held At Pelican ' The Klamath Fals Soroptimist club met Thursday at noon at the Pelican party room for a luncheon meeting. Announcement was made that Izola Parker, a member of the club, has accepted the position of Girl Scout executive for this district. Mrs. Parker has had extensive training in health, recrea tion, and child welfare. Rose Poole reported that the Salem Soroptimist club was sponsoring the child guidance clinic, under the direction of the Salem chamber of commerce. The work in Salem is being headed by ur. La wrence mugs, t h e Soroptimist club is being assist cd by the schools, case workers and county nurses, who help in the pre-clinic and follow up work. Other women's service clubs are helping financially. Local interest in the child guidance movement is increas ing. On December 27, H. O. Guderian. New Year's Eve Members of the Elks and their ladies will welcome the New Year at the New Year's Eve dance on December 31 with dancing from 10 to 3 at the lodge. Gordon's orchestra will fur nish music, and buffet luncheon favors will be served. The tra ditional paraphernalia of New Year s, noisemakers, nats and horns, will be given to everyone. The committee promises a spe cial surprise feature at midnight. Chairmen of the committee arranging the dance are Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Albee. Assisting them are Mr. and Mrs. M. r Lavenik. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Totton, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hol land and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Sweasey. Initiated Friendship court 11, Royal Order of Amaranth, met in tCie Masonic temple Wednesday eve ning, uecemoer IB, at B p. m. with Mrs. Charles Eaton, royal matron, and Jack Schulze, royal patron, presiding. A large and beautifully decorated Christmas tree dominated tie scene, and the hall was trimmed in accord with the season. James Hunter as Santa presided over the dis tribution. Eight candidates were initiat ed into tie order, and officers were elected lor tne coming year. New officers will be in stalled in an open meeting on January 23. Refreshments were served by a committee headed bv Jack Schulze, royal patron. He was also in charge of the Christmas party. Sprays of evergreens and holly tied with wide red rib bons extended the length of the tables. Over a -hundred persons were present. The next regular meeting will be January 15 and at that time there will be initiation and sev eral committees will make their reports. Marriage Word has been received of the marriage of Patricia Ellis, daugh ter of Mrs. Freida Ellis of San Carlos, Calif., to Clinton E. Robles of Fresno. Rites were solemnized on November 4 at Berkeley, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Kobles will make their home in Berkeley. Mrs. Robles is well known in Klamath Falls and is a former resident of this city. She was graduated from Klamath Union high school and was valedicto rian of her class. She is a grad uate of the University of Cali fornia and this year received her master s degree. Mr. Robles is a student at the university and was discharged from the armed forces recently. Luncheon The Women's association of the First Presbyterian church gathered on Thursday, Decem ber 19, for a holiday party and luncheon. Addie Mae Nixon told the Christmas story, "Where Liove is. uod is Also." Mrs. David Barnett led the devotions, and read the Biblical Christmas story. She was assist ed by Marian Mclntyre, J u n e Murpny and uoiieen cresswell, who sang Christmas hymns, ac companied by Mrs. George Mc lntyre. Mrs. A. Petersteiner, Mrs. O. D. Matthews and- Mrs. Allen Fletcher were co-hostesses. Staff Luncheon Women staff members of the Klamath County Abstract com pany held a holiday luncheon and gift exchange on Friday, De cember 20, at noon. Luncheon was enjoyed at the Pelican cafe. Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Robinson of 1433 Derby. He arrived by plane on Friday, December 13, to spend his first unristmas at home in five years. He is a student at Stanford university. Students Are Home For Yule Season - ' Cramming, finals, and then home for the holidays . . . It's been a crowded week for the many Klamath Falls college stu dents who have arrived to spend Christmas with their families, Alethe Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. - M. A. Bennett, flew home from Los Angeles Thursday night. She is a student at La Sierra college, near Los Angeles. She will spend the Christ mas holidays with her parents at the family home, 1720 Johnson. David Patterson, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Patterson of 2405 Summers lane, is holiday vacationing from studies at the Univer sity of British Columbia in Van- , couver, B. C. Maryellcn Wright was among University of Oregon students who arrived home to spend the holidays this week. Maryellen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wright of High street. An early arrival was Nancy Bennet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bennet, who came home last week from Mills col lege in Oakland. Nancy will re turn in January. Mrs. Dave Liskey met her daughter, Maxine, in Corvallis, where Maxine attends Oregon State. They'll return to Klamath Falls Sunday after a brief trip to Portland. Also home from OSC are Mar gie Clark, daughter of Mr. and Children's Party Children of Elks will romp around a gaily decorated Christ mas tree Sunday afternoon in the big ballroom when the an nual Christmas party will be given by the lodge at 2 o'clock. There will be a program in cluding a skating team, a ven triloquist, a magician and com pleted with group singing and other musical numbers. Santa Claus will arrive at the close of the program and distribute candy and nuts to the small fry. Par ents are asked to accompany their children to the lodge. Dr. Boyd Sprague is chairman of the committee making arrange ments for the festivities. The party is limited to children of members of the lodge. . Holiday Event An event of the holiday sea son was the announcement of tie engagement of Maxine Copeland of Fresno, Calif., formerly of Klamath Falls, to James Gen drick Jr. of Ventura, Calif. Miss Copeland is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Copeland of Grants Pass, formerly of this city. . . Mr. Gendrick is a student at Fresno state college. The wed ding will be in June. Darleen McDaniels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mc Daniels of 2332 Orchard, arrived home for the holidays from Ore gon State college at Corvallis Wednesday. She will leave soon for the bay region to spend the holidays with her sister, Mrs. William Hermann and her1 brother, Dan McDaniels. After returning to Klamath Falls she'll go back to school on January 2. 1
