Young Cavener, who has just been discharged from the navy, returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dayton, where he resides. Mrs. Jack Kclley (Betty Campbell) daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell, has return ed here from Alaska to make her temporary home. Mrs. Kel ley flew from Juneau to Seat tle, making the remainder of the trip by train. She has made her home with her husband, Lt. Jack Kelley of the army, at An chorage for several months The housing situation forced her re turn here. Lt. Kelley was recent ly appointed provost marshal. Klamath Falls Creamery Cascade Several California people come to Cascade Summit each summer to spend their vaca tions. Among those who are her now arc Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Put ney and daughter, Mrs. William A. Crawford, all of Los Angeles. The Putneys have been here several summers. They are oc cupying a cottage at the resort here. Mrs. Gene Lavoy is now working at the store. The La voys are former Cascade Sum mit residents, when Lavoy was section foreman for the South ern Pacific company. They are now stationed at Abernathy, where Lavoy. in charge of an extra gang, oversees the laying of new rails. Mrs. Ruth Benson is at pres ent visiting friends here. She is also relieving her sister, Mrs. Lavoy, at the store while the latter is in Eugene on business. The Bensons also are former Cascade Summit residents. They new reside at Halsey. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Benson and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Benson drove up and spent the Fourth here. Larch Douglass and Dorothy Hukell, former telegrapher here, were married recently in Sa lem. Douglass was discharged from the army last winter They met while Douglass was visit ing his aunt. Mrs. Ruth Nagell, here and Mrs. Douglass was working at the Southern Pacific railway station here. Another pair of newlyweds who met here are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hall of Eugene and who are now occupying Mrs. Howard Hall Sr.'s cottage on the lake. . Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bentley and their son-in-law and daugh ter. Pfc. and Mrs. William Bal linger, spent a few days visit ing friends here. The Bentleys live in Portland. The Ballingers will reside in Monterey while Ballinger is in the army. Poe Valley John Nork spent Thursday at the home of his sister. Clara McCarver. in Klamath Falls. Mrs. Haines' mother was a visitor here from Portland re cently. She stayed one week. Jimmy Hope was a visitor at the home of his aunt and uncle, the Clarence Webbers, this week. Mary and Ruth Haines are both working now, Mary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Fabianek of Malin and Ruth at the Holzhouser home. Pauline Roberts was a shop per in Klamath Falls one day this week. Helen Sullivan is helping on the hay baler at the Rex High ranch. Taylor High is at home after being discharged from the navy, There was a Christian En deavor party at the community Fort Klamath Recent house guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Hackler were Mr. and Mrs. J. Sagaser of Redding. Calif., Mrs. A. Ross and L. Lark in of Sacramento, Calif., the latter be ing aunt and cousin, respective ly, of Hackler. Mrs. Roy Wimer. accompanied by her son. Dale Knox, and her granddaughter, Diane Ruegg, re turned Friday from a trip to Portland, where they returned little Diane to her parents after she had enjoyed a visit here for a few days. J. Upton Worthington of Pais ley enjoyed a visit here over the Fourth of July weekend and a few days following. He was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sisemore while here, and the group attended the ro deo in Klamath Falls during his visit. Worthington is an old-time resident of this vicinity, and called on old friends during his stay. Charles Shanahan was called to Chicago Thursday by news of the critical illness of his sister. Guests last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Hackler included the follow ing group of his relatives: Mrs. S. Hackler. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lacey and Lloyd Lacey Jr., all of Talent. Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. A. Spilg of Chicago, 111. Mrs. Alfred B. Castel Sr. and son Alfred Jr. spent Thursday in Klamath Falls on business. Weston Engle left Saturday for Los Angeles, Calif., to make his home. He has been employed , until recently as logging truck driver by the Big Lakes Box Co. in its local logging operations. Today's Newsie i :' ' '-. Mkv " - : M'-- Malin DARVIN PETTY Darvin Petty carries route 22 which runs from Ualsiger's ga rage up Main to the new hous ing protect and up the Old Fort road. It's a pretty big route and Darvin packs 132 papers to customers waiting for the after noon news. Darvin is 14, was i born in Oroville. Calif., June 122. 1932, and is the son of Mr. land Mrs. E. A. Pettv of 123 La- guna. Darvin is a seventh grad er at Mills and his hobby is horses and football is his favor ite sport. His daddy logs at Pinehurst. Right now Darvin is saving the pennies, nickels and dimes because he wants to have a nice little sock to dig down into when he enters the Seventh Dav Adventist school in the fall. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hamilton of Long Beach, Calif., former resi dents of Malin, were visitors in this vicinity last week. Mrs. James Ottoman enter tained the Jolly Nine Pinochle club Wednesday. July 10. High priie went to Mrs. John James, second to Mrs. Jerry Rajnus, and traveling to Mrs. Everett Jones. Guests for the evening were Mrs. Otto Ellis. Mrs. John Rebcr. Mrs. Everett Jones. Mrs. John James, Mrs. Emil Tofell, Mrs. Jerry Rajnus, Mrs. P. G. Wilson, Mrs. Chester Stonecypher. Construction has started at the Malin grade school on a gymnas ium to match the south, wing of the building. Paul McCullcy, who has been in the navy for the past year and a half, has received his discharge and is at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John McCul ley. Mr. and Mrs. Staven of Chi cago have been recent visitors at I the home of Mrs. Eliiabcth Raj nus. Mr. and Mrs. Sicgel of Ten mile. Ore., are visiting at the home of their daughter, Mrs. A. E. Street. Malin city council met recent ly and members decided that the city of Malin will finance the purchase of the equipment fur the new fire truck to be bought in the near future by the fire i men. I Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Loid of i Scio, Ore., have been visiting the I past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Freitag and fam ily. They enjoyed a fishing trip at Sprague river while here. Mrs. George Brothanck. Mrs. John Freitag, Mrs. Vac Kalina, Mrs. Charles Hamilton left Sat urday for the state Legion aux iliary meeting in Portland.
