Navy Releases Four From Klamath Falls Four more Klamath Falls servicemen havo been released from service at the personnel separation center, United States naval base, Bremerton, Wash., navy bulletins said today. Also, one Kcno serviceman, .Richard K. Rowland, MM 2c, has been discharged. The Klamath men who have received discharges are Pren tiss K. Puckett. SK 3c. 113 N. 10th; Bruce T. Davis, S 1c, 303 S. 8th; Meltonk E. Edmunson, S 1c, 3203 Crescent Ave.; and Walter E. Nuckolls, S 2c, 1342 Dayton St. These men were discharged June 7 ttirougn 13 at the naval base. Prehistoric Bone Found In Oregon LA GANDE, June 17 (P) An ancient bone, apparently the tibia of an elephant which roamed over Union county In the Pleistocene ge 100,000 years ago, has been added to Eastern Oregon College of Education's tonsil collection. Dr. Charles Qualntance of tho geology department said the bone, found by Lester Van Blokland while digging post holes on his ranch near Moss chapel, was the first definite evidence that the earlv-dny cle phants were in Union county, although remains havo been found in Baker and Umatilla counties. Gnffey and two other army officers were killed and four servicemen were injured last night when their plnnc crashed as it came in for a landing at Godman field here. General Gaffey, 51-year-old commander of the second and fourth armored divisions in Eu rope during World War II, has been commanding officer of the armored school at Fort Knox alnce the war's end. He was j named post commander at Fort j Knox only last Tuesday. The plane was returning to Fort Knox from Ft. Benning, Ga., where General Gaffey had attended an infantry conference. The plane landed at Bowling Green, Ky., to check its position since its radio had failed. Then it took off again but developed engine trouble as it came in here for a landing. General Gaffey commanded the "hell on wheels" second ar mored division in Sicily and Italy and the fourth armored di vision under General George S. Patton in France and Germany. He served Patton as chief of staff on two occasions. He won several military decorations. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, a student at lexas university. YOUNG VETS WIN LA GANDE.
