' Plain for the sale have been inder way for aome time, and Ihc entertainment program is oelng worked out now. Principle attraction at the tale will be Smokey, the horse donated to the Red Cross bv Mrs. Frank Hurd. Along with Smokey, articles contributed by local people, and merchandise ardors from local firms will be suctioned. Entertainment for the event will consist exclusively of local talent, and Frank Hurd, who is planning the program, jtatci that suggestions will be wel comed. Hurd asks that local merchants who will donate mer chandise orders contact him at telephone 7802. Hurd also wishes to thank the merchants who have already contributed, and all those who have donated time and various articles to the sale. Smoker In Mois Latest accomplishment of Smokey is to create mio movies. h. J. Sleight and S. Benson of the Shutter shop have offered to take both still and motion pictures of the horse. The still pictures will be used for display purposes in the ahow windows of the stores who have donated to the sale. Jessie Totten, a 15-year-old high school girl, has been giv ing her time toward exercising Smokey, and has ridden him through downtown Klamath Falls on display. Contributions, large or small, will be welcomed for the sale, and those wishing to donate are asked to contact Otto Smith, head of the local Red Cross, or Frank Hurd, phone 7802. Crum, assistant trust officer of the First National bank of Portland, has been as signed by Carlos C. Close, vice president and trust officer to head the new southern Oregon division of the trust department. Crum has set up his residence in Medtord and win divine his time between First National's six southern Oregon branch of fices. The expansion has been con templated for several years by the bank management, but the armed forces took away nine highly trained staff members, delaying the move. A large part of the work assumed by Crum during the war now has been picked up by returning service men, releasing him for the im portant southern Oregon assign ment. Mr. and Kirs. Charles U. Lowe, pro prietors of the shop, bought out Mrs. Wright's business and orig inal formulas over a year ago, and sine have been waiting to secure a business office and for their two sons, Robert L. and Richard ., to be released from the army, to start making candy.
