Astoria Ferry Tolls To Remain Same SALEM, May 22 fP) Tolls for the Columbia river ferry at Astoria will remain unchanged when the state takes over the ferry operation June 1, State Highway Engineer R. N. Baldock announced today. Baldock said that as soon as receipts exceed expenses, the tolls will be reduced, because the state does not have the experi ence in ferry operations to fore cast future receipts and costs. He said, however, the state would run more frequent trips. The operation will be non-profit.
