Godard Marilee Crawford and Neil Olson Saturday Rites Wed in Reno, Nev., Saturday evening, May 4, were Darle Helfrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devere Helfrich of 110 Georgia, and Harold Buff Run nels, son of Mrs. Leonard Mc Kinnon, also of Klamath Falls. The bride ware a suit of gray with aqua accessories. Her only attendant was her sister, Delores, who wore yellow. Following the ceremony the young couple motored to Stock ton, Calif., and then up the Cali fornia coast. They are residing in Ashland. Outdoor Party Girls from all the Blue Bird groups in Klamath Falls and surrounding communities gath ered for an outdoor party Sat urday afternoon, May 10, at the Camp Fire house. Lou Miles, Naomi French, Eda mae Adamson, Hazel Craig and Barbara Jones of Dorris, who are Blue Bird leaders, conducted group games and singing. This was the second in a group of "get acquainted" meetings and parties for Camp Fire Girls and Blue Birds as a basis for camp companionship. Friendship Group Meets Friday MERRILL The friendship committee of the Women of the Moose, chapter 18, met Friday, May 10, at the home of Lillian Thomason. Vice-president Anna Hartle rode presided. Two new mem bers, Esther Johnson and Rose Spolek were welcomed. It was decided to have a household help item at each meeting. Present were Rose Van Meter, Rose Spolek, Bessie Aubrey, Anna Hartlerode, Esther John ion, Mary Lou Nine, and Lillian Thomason. Penny Club Holds Bridge Meeting BONANZA The Penny club met at the home of Mrs. Lola Horn for an afternoon of bridge. Guests for the afternoon were Mrs. Birdie Burke, Mrs. Mabel Maxwell, Mrs. Daisy Cox, Mrs. Ruth Mullenox, Mrs. Blanche Gowen and Mrs. Lillian Bech Soldt. Mrs. Marks was unable to at tend the Mother's Weekend Fes tivities at OSC because of the illness of her younger daughter. Lyndon, who is recovering at the family home from at attack of pneumonia. Barbara was initiated this spring into Alpha Chi Omega sorority at OSC. Ceremony In a double ring ceremony read in Vancouver, Roberta Naeck of that city became the bride of Samuel F. Konnie Jr., of Vancouver, formerly of Klam ath Falls, on Sunday afternoon, May 5. The service was read at the home of the bride's aunt. Mrs Nellie Palmer of Vancouver. The bride wore an afternoon dress of pale blue with a match ing hat and shoulder-length veil Her corsage was of white rose buds. Shirley Konnie. sister of the groom, was her only attendant. She was attired in a coral dress with a corsage of iris. Best man was Floyd Jacobsen of Seattle. A reception followed the cere mony, with Mrs. Palmer serving the three-tiered wedding cake. Both the bride and groom were recently discharged from the navy. Following a wedding trip on the Washington coast they will reside in Vancouver. The groom is the son of Mrs. Cora McHard and Samuel F Konnie of Klamath Falls. President Dorothy Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Rogers of 821 Eldorado, has been named president of the Slavic society on the University of California cam pus at Berkeley, according to word received here. The Slavic society is one of the oldest on the campus and is com posed of students of the Slavic languages at the university. Dor othy is a major in economics and foreign relations. She is in her junior year at the university and does not expect to return home until sometime in August as she is enrolling in the first six weeks' summer session. Postponed It was announced today that due to unfortunate circumstances the Little String Ensemble com posed of music students of Harry Borel, will be unable to appear in concert Thursday evening. The recital has been indefi nitely postponed but the date will be announced later. APRIL, MAY AND JUNE birthdays are celebrated by the three young children of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Dennis of Huron street. Ernest, who will be 1 1 on May 16, is holding young Carolyn, who observed her first birthday on April 12. Diane will be 9 on June 19. Elks Plan Last Dance Of Season The last of a series of dancing parties sponsored and arranged by the Elks lodge for Elks and their ladies, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29. in the Elks temple. Making arrangements for the affair, which is to be an in formal sports dance, are Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Lawlcr, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Golden. Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Chase, Mr. and Mrs. James Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Ward. Supper will be served after dancing in the main dining room. Gordon's orchestra will play for dancing, according to mem bers of the committee. Final plans for the dance will be made at a meeting of the group on Wednesday evening, tonight, in the pine-paneled room of the Elks temple. The' informal sports dance will end the scheduled affairs for the year and all members of the lodge and their ladies are urged to attend. The last affair was the formal exalted ruler's ball and one of the biggest par ties of the season. Friendship Club Meets Wednesday Mrs. Fred Cofer and Mrs. Sydney Evans were hostesses to the Friendship club at Mrs. Cofer's home, 1017 High, on Wednesday evening, May 8. Fol lowing the short business meet ing, auction bridge was played' and Mrs. T. J. Webb held high score, Mrs. Blanche Barker sec ond, and Mrs. Pollard received the traveling award. Va., and Daniel Erwin. son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Erwin of 948 Prospect. The groom was recently dis charged from the army. The bride is a corporal in the WAC and will be discharged June 1. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin plan to make their home in Klamath Falls. Poe Valley The Ray Anderson family was helping cut potatoes for seed this week. Mrs. Bo Tucker and family were shoppers in Klamath Falls Saturday. Donald Roberts is planting some potatoes on his uncle's place in Langell valley this year. Archie Roberts is doing some plowing for Bill,, Tubak .'this spring. Arthur Schaupp is having an electric pressure system pump installed on his ranch here. Word was received here re cently that Mrs. Lillian Mag Can non (formerly Lillian Nork) and son Philip of Glcndale, had a long siege of whooping cough. Mrs. Wilbur Anderson, Marc Gebhart, Mrs. Lillian Reiling, Mrs. Bo Tucker and John Nork are among those helping to get the seeds ready for planting in the Tubak . and Reiling cellars. Mrs. Bill Tubak, who has been visiting for some time, is ex pected home soon. Her sister is coming with her. Mrs. Joe Nork and children were shoppers in Klamath Falls from here Thursday. They also visited at the Phil Odcn place in Bonanza while returning home. Ruth circle mot at the homo of Mrs, George. Boyd, 1527 Kane street, mid a special guest of the afternoon was Mr. Earl licdmun, president of the society. Fifteen attended, and In the absence of Mrs. Uexter Elliott, devotional chairman, Mrs. Uruce Binkley presented a devotional program and she was ussistcd by Mrs. Wesley McNee and Mrs. George Casper. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. J. C. Hunt, chairman of the circle. Mrs. McNee and Mrs. Binkley will entertain the group at its next meeting. Esther circle was entertained at the home of Mrs. E. II. Hnl siger of 1910 Melrose, with Mrs. W. J. Steinnu'U assisting. There were 17 members present and four guests present, Mrs. llurtli man. Mrs. Jiggar. Mrs. William Chilcote and Mrs. Eston Bnlsiger. The circle chairman. Mrs. J. D. Gillespie, has moved to Port land and Mrs. O. It. Ilolloway was elected to take her place. Mrs. L. A. Uranium conducted the devotions and Mrs. John Yadon summarized the study of Africa. Mrs. D. A. Kenyon. circle chairman, was welcomed back after a stay of several months in California, and it was decided that Mrs. Kenyon and I Mrs. Brauuan would be the host- j esses for the June meeting. Mrs. W. A. Carleton of 264 Eldorado was hostess to Martha circle, and eight members at-1 tended. Mrs. Charles Rogers, a bride recently arrived from Eng-1 land, was a guest. Mrs. Mark i Taylor, secretary, presided over the business meeting as both the chairman and vice-chairman were absent, and Mrs. C. H. Barnstable conducted the devo tions. It was reported the circle's dinner, served for the home ex tension unit in the church dining room, was very successful. Mrs. Louis Petzoldt, who lives in the government house on Nevada, will be next hostess. Mary circle met with Mrs. J. Riker, 3428 Harlan drive, and she was assisted by Mrs. Wesley McKaig. There were 10 members' present and one guest, Mrs. i Bryce Osborn. Mrs. Lee Mc-. Bride conducted the devotions, i Mrs. E. W. All circle chairmen stressed the need for workers at the church housecleaning day, Thurs day, May 16, and it is hoped that any able to assist even for a short time will plan to be present. The study program, based on the book "The Cross Over Africa," has been finished and the study hour this month was in general a summary of the winter's work on this great continent. Merrill Merrill Rcbekahs at the last meeting voted to cooperate with other organizations here to sponsor a community Christmas tree this year, first since the year before war was declared. Civic, church and social groups will help prepare the planned enter tainment and distribution of treats. It is possible also that the contest for the best holiday exterior decorations in homes In the community may also be re vived. Seven candidates were initiated. Don Barnes was chairman of the birthday committee which rerved refreshments at tables decorated in pnk and green, lodge colors. The next meeting will be May 20.
