Kulaas, 75, Mcdford, died at the Veterans' hospital at Camp White March IS, and final rites were held In Grants Pass Tuesday. Mr. Halaaa was the father of Mrs. Hazel Slegncr, Mrs. Ruth Mlnton and Roy Ha- laus of this city, Harold of Mcd ford, who made his home here for many years, and several other children living In Oregon. A veteran of the Spanish American war, Mr. Hulaus had lived In Oregon for many years. Ho was born in Norwoy in 1870. His wife preceded him in death In 1836. Now that the coast guard is back under the treasury depart ment, Herendeen explained, it has a vital job to do in connec tion with air-sea rescue, main tenance of aids to navigation, operation of fire barges and boats In all harbors of the Uni ted States, constant patrol for violations of the customs laws.
