Holmes Returns To Portland Bank Frank Holmes, former assist ant manager of Ihe Klamath Jails branch' of the United States National bunk, Is now back in the head office in Portland, friends here have learned, Holmes and his family left Klamath Falls for Grants Pass where he look over management of that branch of U. S. National, and from there he was trans ferred to Portland as manager of the Union avenue branch. He is now serving as public rela tions officer and in churgo of new business. Living Units Released For Var Veterans Another let-up In the tense housing situation in Klamath Falls may be effected by tho release this week of 107 more military units for veterans. The 107 units were turned over for veterans Monday, according to C. A. Hayclen, project cngi necr, and following cleaning and inspection, applicants were no tified from the waiting list of 152 names. Forty-six families are moving In this week and as applicants arc being accommo dated more names ore being added to the list, Families of military personnel who have left Klamulh Falls have been granted extension privileges of remaining in the units for various lengths of time dependent on whether the men were transferred or discharged and the time limits vary from 30, 60 to 90. days. When these families vacate there will be still more facilities available. Fewer daily requests for liv ing quarters are being received at the chamber of commerce, since the first of the year, but the situation remains static with about the same limited number of vacancies as before Persons now looking for housing in Klamath Falls are more perma nent than those of the last few years, it was reported, and should make better renters. This continued shortage of rentable living quarters may be due partially to the fact that many persons who' have had places for rent are now putting them up for sale, it was sug gested. Malin Grange Holds Meeting MALIN, March 15 Twenty members of the Malin grange enjoyed a potluck supper be fore their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 12. During the business meeting Frank Paygr Jr., chairman of the agricul tural committee, gave a brief report on the use of 2-D4 and its effect on weed control as discussed at the recent cuumy agricultural meeting held in Klamath Falls. The next meet ing of this committee is slated for March 20 and all interested are urged to attend. Mrs. George Smalley, Elmont Kenyon, and Mrs. Frank Paygr Jr., will represent the Malin grange in a coming program of entertainment on KFJI "Shoot the Works" in which all or ganizations will participate.
