Basin Co-Op To Hold Meet TULELAKE, Feb. 14 The 12th annual membership meeting of the Klamath Basin Coopera tive is scheduled for Monday af ternoon, February 18, in the American Legion hall here. Plans for the session, which will include election of direc tors, were announced today by T. C. Haggerty, manager. Don Gillespie, manager of the Pa cific Supply of Klamath Falls, will report on the 1945 market ing of Hannchen barley and Al sike clover, and will outline plans for marketing this season. Homer Smith, manager of the Lakeview co-op, organized six months ago, will report on the organization and development of the business there. Benefits and service of field men to the grow er will be covered by Bert Wil cox, field man from Pacific Sup ply. There will be no dinner this year Three Dignitaries Arrive In Rome ROME, Feb. 14 W) The con stellation plane Star of Rome landed today, bearing three cardinals-designate to the coming consistory. Aboard were Archbishops Francis J. Spellman of New York and John Glennon of St. Louis and Bishop Thomas Tien of China, who will become princes of the Roman Catholic church Monday. Entertainers Stop Off Here Lunching at the Pelican today were 11 members of a troupe of movie and radio entertainers, well known to western music fans.- In the group were Ray Whit ley, star of western musicals, Jimmy Wakely, Monogram pic ture star, Eloise Holt, Vivian Earls, and Carol Summers, who compose the "Sunshine Trio," Arthur Smith of the radio pro gram, "Grand Old Opery," Art West, Jesse Asblock, Jack Riv ers, Pete Martinez, and Ace Spriggens, vocalists and musi cians with the troupe. They stopped briefly in Klam ath Falls en route to Yakima, Wash., where they will appear soon. They have ahead of them a personal appearance tour of the northwest and part of Can ada. Four member's of the troup are war veterans, and Whitley spent several months overseas entertaining American troops on USO tours. As for Klamath Falls, Whitley was astonished to see its winter weather. "When I've been here before, the weath er's been wonderful," he re marked. Joining the movie people for lunch were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lamb. Lamb is manager of Klamath Theatres. , . LIVESTOCK INCREASES ST. HELENS, Feb. 14 (fl -Columbia county's livestock source of 60 per cent of the re gion's income has increased from 10,000 to 20,000 head in the last 20 years. A farm outlook conference here was told that 87 per cent of the livestock was dairy cat tle. The men work in gangs on the road jobs and the ruilroad com panies are having difficulty find ing quarters for them near the work.
