Town Shop Shows
New Joan Millers
THE TOWN SHOP has new
arrivals in those smooth
looking Joan Millers . . .
recognized as an outstand
ing junior line in dresses
... which are superbly
tailored for youthful figures.
Some clever little creations
. . . consisting of full, striped
dirndl skirts and basque-fitted
tops i . . were just being un
packed when Martha was shop
ping there this week. Made of
lightweight wool . . . these are
extremely suitable for the com
ing season.
In another group were Shan
t u n g casuals . . . definitely
springlike in buoyant shades
such as melon and maize . . .
with adorably pleated skirts . . .
and a contrasting, oriental mo
tif embroidered on the pockets
for a touch of individuality.'
You'll find these Joan Mil
lers . . . and other styles . . .
at THE TOWN SHOP . . . cor
ner of Main and Fifth.
Long's Receives
Bright Shantungs
PRETTY as crocuses in the
snow are the new Shan
tungs just unpacked at
LONG'S . . . that are
priced so modestly Martha
considers it opportune to
purchase a couple for warm
weather wear.
These sport dresses ... by
Kenwood , . . .. include polka
dots and plains ... in shades
of melon, aqua, rose, corral,
gray, majze and petal pink . . .
neat button - down - the-fronters
. . . with wide pleats both front

plete in detail as they are gay.
Another striking number
among the new arrivals is the
white Shantung . . . with a sub
. dued black stripe . . . and white
curd belt . . . giving it a slight
ly more dressy look.
V Sizes range from 14 through
!0 . . and, as I mentioned be

nominal . , "; at LONG'S

WhytaFs Blouses
Add Zip To Suits
TO add some fresh ' zip to
your winter suits . . .
WHYTAL'S has received
a bright selection o f
blouses ... of a soft,
..; linen-like rayon that looks
to Martha as though it would
launder beautifully.
These new blouses are fash
ioned with the favorite jewelry
neckline . . . pin-tucked fronts
. . . buttoned backs t . . and the
colors include kelly green, blue,
coral and aqua.
Or, if you'd rather have
something fancier ... I sug
gest the white cotton sheers
with lace insets . . . dainty as
well as practical.
For dress-up occasions,-' I
couldn't decide between the
sophisticated black satin with
long, dolman sleeves buttoned
at the wrist and high, rolled
collar . . . the suave blue
blouse with its simple, yet dis
tinguished lines ... or the
glamorous white jersey trimmed
in nailhead design ...
At WHYTAL'S ... in the
Medical-Dental building . . .
Ninth and Main.
Star Drug Obtains
Swiss Pine Oil
IACTOPINE ... for your
bath . . . which Martha
found at the STAR DRUG
STORE . . . had' a roman
tic beginning as "pine
broth" . . , used in the
Swiss Alps to revive exhausted
travelers . . . and today the
virtues of pine needles extract
are still recognized.
First introduced as a medic
inal bath only ... the crisp
fragrance and restful properties
soon popularized Lactopine
(Swiss Pine Bath Oil) . . . which
works restorative magic on
frayed nerves . . . and has a
beneficial tonic action on the
whole body.
. Now, the Lactopine items not
only include bath oil . . . which
sells for $2.00 a bottle . . . but
also refreshingly scented soap
in two sizes. A box of the hand
soap . . . plus a small contain
er of oil . . . or, one bath size
cake and oil . . . are priced at
$1.00. In addition, there are
luxury sets for $4.75 ...
Obtainable at the STAR
DRUG STORE .... Fifth and
Main.
.
Freshest looking of the
1946 bag forecasts are the
large classic envelopes, ar
ranged with the flap or deco
ration giving a diagonal line
from lower corner to the op
posite upper in all materials
of different types from - the
small cocktail envelope to -large
goatskin -tailored styles

Beauty Shop To
Open Tomorrow
NEW beauty shop is being
I added to the busy South
i Sixth shopping center . . .
LM to be open ready for ap
! pointments on Friday, Feb
ruary 15th . . . and Martha
is certain that residents of that
area will find it a decided con
venience. BETH'S BEAUTY SHOP . . .
at 1605 Martin street ... is
owned and operated by Beth
Beddow, formerly of Tekoa,
Wash., near Spokane ... who
is experienced in permanent
wavirfg and all. other types of
beauty work. Halliwell Cold
Waves will be featured.
The Beddows are newcomers
to this city . . . Mr. Beddow
having recently been released
from his duties with Uncle
Sam's air corps ... and. he
will assist Mrs. Beddow with
the management of the new
shop. '
So remember . . . BETH'S
BEAUTY SHOP . . . (look for
the sign across South Sixth
from Lee Hendrick's Drug) . . .
will be open tomorrow. Dial
5230 for appointments.
Those who favor reptile
shoe and bag ensembles,
chiefly lisard, snake or alli
gator, will be. interested in
learning, that . the- tie-up is
made by using the same color,
same reptile but never with
attempts to repeat the de
sign idea of the shoe or the
bag. Therefore, it's always
possible to wear either ac
cessory separately.
New Plastic Bags
Featured At Moe's
TO add a ' certain ' dash to
your Spring outfit .
Martha suggests one of the
new plastic bags now on
display at MOE'S depart
ment store . . . shiny as
patent leather . . . but almost
soft enough to crush in your
hand.
These bags are genuine in
destructible plastic . . . are
guaranteed not to crack . . .
and are easily cleaned with
soap and water . ... which cer
tainly is an item to be consid
ered . . . along with the mod
erate prices.
Among those I saw is a white
bag , . . fashioned with an arm
loop . . . that would go beau
tifully with your summer pas
tels ... or if you want to parry
out a color combination . . .
there are scarlet bags. But the
most popular, of course, will
be the black ones which are
shaped intriguingly.
MOE'S, The Woman's Store
. 512 Main . . . also has a
new shipment of the under-arm
bags of plastic squares ... de
manded by the younger set . . .
in red, white, brown and black
. . . and many lovely Cordes
with artful plastic trims.
The popular box bags, with
easy availability to contents,
are growing softer. They are
small and less rigid, making it
possible to crush them softly
in the hand, yet the general
silhouette gives a boxy effect.
