H ; 1 IT Merry Christmas, Happy New.Year Families are gathering around the Christmas tree this year and although ornaments are scarce, the very fact that a lot of people will be home that were not here last year makes up for the lack of glitter and tinsel to decorate the fir boughs. On the next page is a picture ot a button tree, a little fir tree which Mrs. . P. Ivory has in the corner of her living room decorated with hundreds of little buttons which she has collected. That's young Charlotte putting on another button. Greeted here this past week were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Milligan, (Elizabeth Graham), who en- joyed seeing old friends after a lengthy absence. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham while in Klamath Falls Scott has Just returned from service overseast his last post in xiong nung, iuni. . i lie iviuii cans, whose home is in Lour view, will spend Christmas with her mother, Mrs. Earl Barron of Carmel and then will continue to Columbia university where Scott will take graduate work in education. Mr. and Mrs. V. I. Whitney, (Patty Fleet), are here for the holidays and are guests of her parents, Mr. ana Mrs. t rca is. Fleet of Lakeshore drive. They will leave the day after Christ mas. ;.- Here to spend the Christmas holidays with her parents is Car olyn comer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Collier, who arrived this week from Corona, California, where she is with the American Red Cross at the naval hospital there. Carolyn will re turn south after the New Year's holidays. I Holiday Party ' Dr. and Mrs. George H. Merry man will be hosts at their home on Pacific Terrace at 4 o'clock Christmas day to a group of neighbors when they entertain at dinner. A buffet will be arranged in the game room which will be decorated in true holiday fash ion, with trees, greens and lights. Guests will include Mr. and Mrs. Hugh B. Campbell and . daughter Joan, home from the University of Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins and Mary Jane, Sir. and Mrs. William K. Jenkins and Pam, Dr. and Mrs. John Merryman and little Susan Irene, and Captain George H. Merryman. . ' Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Nlcodemus .are here for the holidays from -; Brookings, guests of their daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. j George Bratton Jr. The Godfrey C. Blohms and son, Phil, are leaving this week end for Portland to .spend the holidays with Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Manlove. They plan to stay on in Portland until mid-January when they will return to their ranch home near Malin. Lt. and Mrs. Richard Blohm are spend ing the holidays with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg Smith of Chestertown, Maryland. Home for Christmas is Lt. (jg) Mary Loney of the Waves who is here for the holidays from the Seattle, Washington, naval air station where she has been on duty for the past two years. Mary is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Loney of the Roosevelt apartments. She is ex pecting house guests after Christmas and then plans to con tinue to Pasadena . where she will attend the Rose Bowl game. Crescent. Capt. Patterson has just returned trom service in the South Pacific where he was awarded the Bronze Star and other decorations while in that theater. En route through Klamath Falls two weeks ago lie was able to call his parents and they had a 20-minutc visit with him at the train at 5 o'clock one morning. Capt. Patterson was en route to Camp Beale. , .. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Rogers re ceived word at noon Friday from their son, Capt. James Rogers of the U. S. marine corps, that he had landed in San Diego and de spite transportation facilities hoped to make it home by Mon day to spend Christmas with his family. The Rogers will .have their tree with their daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. ocott Warren and Mr. and Mrs Harry Ravizza at the new Warren home near Klamath Falls. Lt. and Mrs. Tom Radcliffe and young Diane are here for the holidays from Portland to be with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. Heber Radcliffe of Pacific Terrace. Helen Radcliffe, teach ing this . year in Eugene, will also be here for the holidays and there is a possibility tnat Billy, now seaman first class in the U. S. navy, will Bet leave from Shoemaker, Calif. A nice Christmas present for the Perry Wilsons was the arrival at noon Tuesday of their son. Pvt. Bill Wilson of the United States army air corps, Lowry field, Denver, Colorado. Bill flew to Hamilton field and took the train from - there to enjoy his Christmas furlough at home. Capt and Mrs. Stanley J. Pat terson arrived here Friday at noon from San Jose, California, to be with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson of 1132 Holiday greetings from Mrs. Merle Sleeper of Bend who will De rememoerea here as Virginia Fick. Also from Douglas Mor doff down in Berkeley and his new bride, Evelyn. They were married in Medford the latter part of November. Doug has been with Standard Oil as chemist for quite a few years. And from the Stuart Nelsons who will have Christmas by themselves at Grand Prairie, Texas. An attractive picture of Ruth Bathiany's lily bulb farm at Harbor on the coast, showing the lovely lilies in full bloom with a background of wind swept trees and the coast line. She's here for the holidays, too. An other "pitcher" card of pretty little Connie Weaver, the Clark Weavers' small one from down in California. 9 i Naw Year's Eve Open Hous Officers of the Marine Bar racks will have open house on New Year's Eve for their friends. Reames Members Plan Holiday Party Members of Reames Golf and Country club always look for ward to the annual New Year's Eve ball and this year, the first postwar party, should be an exceptionally gay one. The committee of which Mr. and Mrs, Ted Reeves arc chair men, met at the Reeves home on Melrose street Monday evening to complete plans for the dance. The affair will be semi-formal which means long skirts for. the women, and dancing is from 10 o'clock until 1 o'clock in the morning. There will be a bountiful breakfast served after the New Year is ushered in by the mem bers and their house guests, George P. Davis, this year's president of Reames, met with the committee to arrange the af fair. Other members of the com mittee are Mr. and Mrs. Elton H. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lamb, Mr. ' and Mrs. F. John West and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hitchcock. . t Cocktail Party Mr. and Mrs. William K. Jen kins asked a small group in for cocktails Friday evening at their home on Conger avenue in compliment to Mary Jane Jenkins and Capt, George H. Merryman. Hours were from 5:30 o'clock until 8 and guests included Mary Jane and George, Joan Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. L. Orth Sisemore, Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Shaw, Dr. and Mrs. John Merryman and, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drew.- Open House Old friends and new will gath er on New Year's day in the Peli can party room when Mrs. Clara Shaw entertains at her annual open house. In the past the af fair has always been held at the Shaw residence on Hotnedale, but the January 1st party will be given in the party room this year. It is always the gala affair ol the holiday season and Mrs. Shaw has asked all who have attended her parties in the past to come again. Luncheon Members of Aloha Past Ma trons club will meet at the Ma sonic temple Friday, December 28, for 1 o'clock luncheon fol lowed by a Christmas tree and gifts.
