On Saturday evening, the club entertained at a party for members, their husbands and guests at the Community hall in the navy housing unit, and 33 attended. It was a Halloween party and the decorations and games were suited to the occa sion. Langell Valley LANGELL VALLEY Mary Ann Leavitt and Richard Bur nett entertained their little Langell valley friends with a Halloween party on Saturday evening, November 3. The party was held at the Burnett home and the house was decorated throughout with witches, skele tons, goblins, and other Hallo ween motifs. Games and con tests were enjoyed, with re freshments ixrved at the close of a ploasant evening. A dance was planned, with Grace Dearborn named chair man. The members voted to send a fllft to Mrs. Alice Peatross who s 111, and each member wrote a letter to be sent to her. Bonnie Fernland Joined the club at this meeting. The next meeting will be No vember 15 at the parish hall when Mrs. Bill Burnett and Mrs. F. W. Brown will be host esses. BPW Enjoys Fall Harvest Meeting Unlciue and entertaining was the Fall Harvest dinner meetlnn of the Business and Professional ning, November o, at me willard hotel with Hattle Evans, social chairman, and members of her committee in charge. Mountain ash berries, pumpkin bowls of fruit and lighted ta pers made the tables especially colorful, while black cats, pump kins, feathers and autumn leaves were used for placecards. Those attending were divided into four groups for the contests that Included the feather blow, a harvest sway, a pumpkin relay ana a powiing tournament ail-- highly hilarious. Assisting Mrs. Evans were Luetic Tweed, May Moss, Edna Russell, Lorcna Pease and Agnes Gcddcs. Among the guests introduced were Lt. Betty Cleghorn who is just home from Europe, Mrs. Don Everitt, formerly of Eng land, a new resident of this city, and Marie McGroth, who Is a member of the BPW at Topeka, Kans. Twyla Ferguson reported on the YMCA meeting held re cently and Coral Sabo gave a report on special features plan ned for the Victory Loan. She asked that all members of the club, who will have time to work at bond headquarters, call Mrs. Nelson at 5518. Members voted to participate in the int:r-club banquet in December when Dr. L. D. Pril laman of Portland, professor of Relationship With Russia." It was also voted to have BPW members staff the USO on January 6. A meeting of the executive board will be held next Mon day evening, November 12, at the home of Bertha Geiger, 1503 Upham. The next regular meeting of the club will be on November 26 instead of the 18th. in courtesy to the Knife and Fork club which requested the use of the Willard banquet room for that evening. The meetings of the Minerva and Edith Cunning book clubs, usually held the fourth Mon day of each - month, were changed to November 19. Frank Jenkins, publisher ot The Herald-News, will be guest speaker at the BPW meeting scheduled for November 26. Engaged Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall of 932 S. Fourth, East Salt Lake City, have announced the en gagement of their daughter, Verna, to George D. Kohler of Klamath Falls. The young couple has chosen January 17 for their wedding day. They will be married at the home of the bride's parents. They plan to make their home in Klamath Falls where Kohler is employed. S On Thursday Ye Olde Pi nochle club met at the home of Esther Adkisson, 1536 Oregon avenue, for luncheon and cards. Nona Hall received the award for high score, Violet Vance sec ond, Maggie Upton low, and the pinochle award went to Fannie Goddard. The meeting on No vember 15 will be with Fannie Goddard in Shady Pine and the hour for luncheon has been changed from 1 o'clock to 12:30 p. m., for all future meetings. Reeder, Mrs. Jack Sevey and Mrs. Homer Fields entertained November 2 at a delightfully planned layette shower at the Reeder home. Arrangements of pastel shad ed chrysanthemums were used about the rooms and an unusual decoration, arranged by Mrs. Reeder centered the refreshment table. A large stork, carrying a "bit from heaven" guarded a foliage encircled mirror repre senting a lake where miniature figures of small people and birds and animals frolicked on the lake's surface or in the shrub bery. In a contest, high honors were won by Mrs. Gladys Allen and Mrs. Olga Bradshaw and low prizes went to Mrs. Woodward and Mrs. DeLos Mills. The gifts were presented in a small hamper.
