Kasper were told goodbye tills week beforo they left Tuesday for Camp Shoemaker near Oak land, where Cmdr. Kasper will assume hilt new duties. He has been tho senior dental officer at ' tho Marine Burracks since the barracks Installation was opened over a year oko. Tho Kaspers have made many friends while making their home hero. Late In June they returned from New York whore they had gone on a 15 day leave and immediately a round of parties honored the couple be fore their departure. In June. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Marlln. Personal Invitations were sent to each Wave at tho Klamath naval air station and It Is expect ed that about 50 will attend the celebration. Smith of this city have an nounced the engagement of their daughter, Hazel bmitn, to Pvt. Howard D. Hulslzcr, son of Mr, and Mrs. H. E. Hulsizcr of Wil- liamsport. Pa. Miss Smith Is a graduate of Klamath Union high school with the class of 1B45, and is now em ployed at the Big Lakes Box company. Pvt. Hulslzcr was formerly stationed at the Marine Barracks here and is now stationed in Pennsylvania, He was at the barracks for 11 months. Loosley of Fort Klamath announce the marriage of their daughter, Lois, to Sgt. Olaf C. Carpenter, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Carpenter, 6152 Summers lane, Klamath Falls. Tho .wedding was an event of July 17 at the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles. The double ring ceremony was read by Rev. Frank E. Lindgrcn.' The bride's only attendant was her sister, Maxine Loosley, who acted as maid of honor. The best man was PFC Vernon Schwartz, USMC. For her wedding the bride wore a street length gown of white with matching hat and accessories. The maid of honor was attired In blue. Both wore shoulder corsages and the bride carried a beautiful bouquet. Mrs. Carpenter is a graduate of the Oregon College of Educa tion where she was outstanding in campus affairs, including "Staff and Key," Crimson O dramatics club, Phi Beta Sigma honor society, and in her senior year was editor of Lamron, the college-paper. She taught in a North Bend, Ore., school last year and plans to continue with her teaching work this fall. Sgt. Carpenter entered the United States marine corps in January, J942, when he was as signed to the marine engineers. He has spent 32 months In the South Pacific theater of war, having participated in several major campaigns, including those on Guam and Iwo Jima. He returned to the United States in June of this year for a 30-day furlough. Following their marriage, the young couple enjoyed a honey moon at Vernon's Mt, Baldy lodge in the Sierra Nevada mountains, after which time Sgt. Carpenter reported back to his base in San Diego for further orders. Mrs. Carpenter accom panied him to San Diego. Farewells Said To Erdmann Family Farewells were said this week to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy L. Erd mann and son Jimmy who loft Thursday to make their home in Eugene. Mr. Erdmann will take over his duties as director o the Eugeno Vocational school in the university city. Numerous affairs have been given in honor of the Erdmanns for the pa,st two weeks before they left. They have mode their home here for the past 17 years and have made many friends in Klamath Falls. They have, sold their home at 2012 Main and have purchased a new homo In Eugene at 1869" Hllyard. Both Mr. and Mrs. Erdmann have taught in the city schools. Sam and Ingram Montgomery gave a party for Jimmy Erd mann this last week and a group of his friends were Invited. The boys enjoyed nn afternoon nt the fiark with refreshments served ntcr. Engagement Announcing their engagement tills week were Dorothy Jean Wasson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, T. H. Wasson of Fargo street, and Ensign Kenneth D. Aber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cummings of the Bend highway. No definite plans have yet been made for the wedding. Miss Wasson attended school In Miami, Arizona, and Ensign Aber was a student at KUHS. Ho Is with tho merchant marine. Eagles Auxiliary Mrs, Lowell Stockman was a special guest at the Tuesday night meeting of the Eagles aux iliary when they met at 7:30 in the FOE hall. Br fialtH&UoH. Sunday Picnic More than 50 members and guests assembled at Moore park on Sunday, July 22, for the Townsend club's annual picnic which was served at 1 o'clock. After lunch, cards were played for an hour and then all gath ered on the lawn for games and races. The girls' race was won by Norma Douglas and Joyce Web ster. In the boys' race, Mitchell Barnes and Edward McCracken won. Winners in the ladies' race were Elfie Anderson and Daisy Douglas and among the men, prizes were won by George Randall and Don Rayl. In the children's free-for-all, winners were Hazel Douglas, Mitchell Barnes and Edward Mc Cracken. In the sack race. Hazel Douglas, Mitchell Barnes and Norma Douglas won. In the la dies' sack race, winners were El fie Anderson and Daisy Doug las. Winners of other games and races were Norma Douglas, Edward . McCracken, Tillie Barnes and Daisy Douglas. At 5:30, huge slices of water melon were served. Those in charge of arrange ments for the picnic were Earl Barnes, H. O. Myers, Ed Cross, Bernice McCracken, Maude Cross and George Randall. Wed In Denver Friends will be interested to hear of the wedding last week in Denver of Edna Renner, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Ren ner, and Bud Petersteiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Peter steiner. Both are popular mem bers of the younger set here. Bud is a member of the army air corps and the couple is ex pected home soon, bringing de tails of the wedding. Rebekahs 1 Prosperity Rebekah lodge met in regular session in the IOOF hall Thursday, . July 19, at 8 p. m., with all officers in their chairs. Following lodge, refresh ments were served by Mary Cur tis and Arloa Andrus of the so cial club. At the next meeting, August 2, a class of candidates will be initiated. Marjorie Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A.- Taylois, formerly of this city, was married on Friday, July 20, to PFC Chester Jaskiewicz of New Hartford, Conn, in a ceremony per formed by Judge J. Mrs. College is a recent bride, now living in Corning, Calif., and Mrs. Birtwistle, wife of a serviceman, is making, her home with her parents. She was hon ored with a layette shower. Mrs. Jaskiewicz attended Fre mont grade school and gradu ated from Klamath Union high school with the class of 1941. She is employed at the AAA office in the federal buildng. Prior to her marriage she was active in junior hostess and USO activities. The groom, who has been in the marine corps for four year's, served overseas for two years and has been sta tioned at the Marine Barracks for the past year.
