Kaspers Leave For
California Tuesday
Commander and Mrs. S. T. Kasper were told goodbye tills
week beforo they left Tuesday for Camp Shoemaker near Oak
land, where Cmdr. Kasper will assume hilt new duties. He has
been tho senior dental officer at ' tho Marine Burracks since
the barracks Installation was opened over a year oko.
Tho Kaspers have made many friends while making their
home hero. Late In June they returned from New York whore
they had gone on a 15 day leave and immediately a round of
parties honored the couple be
fore their departure.

barracks for 11 months.

FORT KLAMATH Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Loosley of
Fort Klamath announce the marriage of their daughter, Lois,
to Sgt. Olaf C. Carpenter, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A.
Carpenter, 6152 Summers lane, Klamath Falls.
Tho .wedding was an event of July 17 at the Church of the
Open Door in Los Angeles. The double ring ceremony was read
by Rev. Frank E. Lindgrcn.'
The bride's only attendant was her sister, Maxine Loosley,
who acted as maid of honor. The best man was PFC Vernon
Schwartz, USMC.
For her wedding the bride
wore a street length gown of
white with matching hat and
accessories. The maid of honor
was attired In blue. Both wore
shoulder corsages and the bride
carried a beautiful bouquet.
Mrs. Carpenter is a graduate
of the Oregon College of Educa
tion where she was outstanding
in campus affairs, including
"Staff and Key," Crimson O
dramatics club, Phi Beta Sigma
honor society, and in her senior
year was editor of Lamron, the
college-paper. She taught in a
North Bend, Ore., school last
year and plans to continue with
her teaching work this fall.
Sgt. Carpenter entered the
United States marine corps in
January, J942, when he was as
signed to the marine engineers.
He has spent 32 months In the
South Pacific theater of war,
having participated in several
major campaigns, including those
on Guam and Iwo Jima. He
returned to the United States in
June of this year for a 30-day
furlough.
Following their marriage, the
young couple enjoyed a honey
moon at Vernon's Mt, Baldy
lodge in the Sierra Nevada
mountains, after which time Sgt.
Carpenter reported back to his
base in San Diego for further
orders. Mrs. Carpenter accom
panied him to San Diego.
Farewells Said
To Erdmann Family
Farewells were said this week to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy L. Erd
mann and son Jimmy who loft Thursday to make their home in
Eugene. Mr. Erdmann will take over his duties as director o the
Eugeno Vocational school in the university city.
Numerous affairs have been given in honor of the Erdmanns
for the pa,st two weeks before they left. They have mode their
home here for the past 17 years and have made many friends in
Klamath Falls.
They have, sold their home at 2012 Main and have purchased
a new homo In Eugene at 1869"

have taught in the city schools.

More than 50 members and
guests assembled at Moore park
on Sunday, July 22, for the
Townsend club's annual picnic
which was served at 1 o'clock.
After lunch, cards were played
for an hour and then all gath
ered on the lawn for games and
races.
The girls' race was won by
Norma Douglas and Joyce Web
ster. In the boys' race, Mitchell
Barnes and Edward McCracken
won. Winners in the ladies'
race were Elfie Anderson and
Daisy Douglas and among the
men, prizes were won by George
Randall and Don Rayl.
In the children's free-for-all,
winners were Hazel Douglas,
Mitchell Barnes and Edward Mc
Cracken. In the sack race. Hazel

Friends will be interested to

Denver of Edna Renner, daugh
