The fistic battle will be a four-round bout between Ma rine Johnny Gates of the Ma rine Barracks and Sailor Al Burkhardt of the naval air sta tion. Both boys are in the light heavyweight class and both have enjoyed considerable success in fistic circles. Burkhardt, clever negro box er, fought professionally under the name of "Kid Silk," while Gates recently declsioned John L. Sullivan in the Portland arena and was later TKO'd by .powaer" froctor. This bout will go on imme diately after the semi-windup on the crunch card which sends burly, blustering Antone Leone against Kenny Ackles, the "Hol lywood wonder Boy." The top-spot Beavers beat off the challenge of their northwest rivals 9-3 lust night and evened their crucial series at one-all. The Beavers now hold a game and a half lead. But an even hotter race has developed for third place. San Francisco went into a tie with Oakland for that position by beating the Acorns 8-2, while only half a notch behind are San Diego, Sacramento and Los Angeles. Padres Whip Solons The Padres took their third in a row from the Solons 5-3, and the Angels banged out ' an 8-1 decision over Hollywood, giving San Diego a .487 percentage rat ing, and Sacramento and Los Angeles .486 for a virtual fifth place tie. Two home runs sparked Port land's assault against three Seat tle pitchers. Catcher Eddie Ad ams' circuit clout in the fourth with the bases loaded drove Carl Fischer from the mound.
