Baldock laid today he has no idea when construction may begin on the state's $36,000,000 three -year post-war highway program. He also said there isn't a man la the United States who knows. : Construction probably will begin, he said, when unemploy ment reaches such an extent that jobs are needed, but it is impos- sipie to make even a reasonable guess as to when that might oc cur. Kaiser announced to day that he had gone into the home building industry to turn out houses that would sell for S4000 to S5000 at a monthly payment rate of less than $30. The name of the new organiza tion will be the Kaiser Commun ity Homes. Kaiser will be chair man of the board of directors. The president will be Fritz B. Burns, west coast homebuilder. The firm will have a capitaliza tion of $5,000,000. Kaiser, telling a news confer ence that today, was his 63rd birthday, said he. expected to be turning out the homes before year's end. His organizations Intention, he said, is to build not only homes which will not be pre fabricated but entire commun ities of homes. . Fisher Sentenced On Weapons Charge TJioViar1 C. Fisher, route 3. Klamath Falls, who was arrest-: ed by city police in the Pastime cafe charged with carrying con cealed weapons on Saturday, May 5, was fined $150 or 75 days in the county jail today by Justice of the Peace J. A. Mahon ey. He is in the county jail at present in lieu of bail. " Fisher was alleged to have drawn a revolver and threatened Clarence O. Day at Day's resi dence at 530 Broad. He later entered the Pastime cafe where he was arrested by city police. Construction Set For Office Building : SALEM, May 10 VP) Con struction of the $1,500,000 state office building to be built across the street from the capitol will begin as soon as- materials and manpower are available,; t h e state board of control said today after approving architects' plans for the building. The structure will be faced with marble, will be five stories high, and to be 220 feet long and 140 feet wide. Funds for construction will be borrowed from the common school fund, and will be repaid by rentals of offices using the building.
