The new Mrs. Williams is the daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Carey Carson Duncan of South Carolina, and the groom is-the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester R. Williams of Klamath Falls. Golf is played in the morning hours, after which members and guests, enjoy a sack or basket lunch at one o'clock. Coffee is served by the committee in charge during the day, and bridge is played in the afternoon. Officers for the season are Mrs. Martin Swanson, president, and Mrs. Herbert E. Dinner Party Honors S ecreta ry The blue room of the Wlllard hotel was the scene', of a gay dinner party on Saturday, evening, April 21, at seven o'clock, when Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Robertson were hosts to members of the office force at the First Federal Savings and Loan association. Guest of honor at the affair was Mrs. Opal McDonald, who cele brated her tenth anniversary as secretary at this firm. A white candelabra with tall pink tapers centered the iotig (able covered with pale pink flowered crepe" paper, and -pink sweet peas were attractively air- ranged with maidenhair ferns beneath, forming the. center piece. Pale green candle hold ers with pink candles were placed at either - end of the table.' Sprays of roses painted on cards were placed before small green cups holding candy and nuts, and .corsages of sweet peas were presented to the women. During the dinner a Doom in annreclation of Mrs. McDonald's work was read by Mr. John Sandmeyer, after which she was -presented with several lovely' gifts by the host and hostess. Mrs. McDonald has also been erantcd a month's vacation by her employer. (n Hawaii A sister team has reported to the US naval hospital at Aiea Heights on Oahu in the Ha-' waiian Islands. They are Nan Goeller, storekeeper first class, and Adra Goeller, seaman first class. ' The naval hospital , is filled with casualties from Iwo Jima, and a largo numberof Waves are volunteering " their" leisure time for three hours of extra duty several nights a week,, in addition to the full day's work they put In on their own job." ' These girls write letters for the patients or read to them. They make the rounds of the wards with pitchers of ice water and fruit juice, or. fold linen After it has stacked up follow ing the day's laundry opera tions. The affair was given for AS Joyce Saftenberg, a Wave from the Klamath naval air station, whose marriage to Thomas Driver, petty officer- first class of the United States coast guard, will be an event of May 12. Mrs. Moore is a cousin of the bride-to-be. The mantel over the fireplace was .centered with a miniature bride and her bridesmaids, sur rounded by silver bells. McKay,, presi dent of the League of Women Voters, spoke to the Soroptimist club at the luncheon meeting at the Willard hotel on Wednesday afternoon, taking for . her sub ject, the topic of the Dumbarton Oaks proposals. With the aid of a chart, Mrs. McKay explained the numerous departments and their opera tions' as. proposed, by the con ference which was held at Dum barton Oaks in Washington, D. C. earlier in the year.. She made clear the many questions that have been obscured by over-emphasis on the workings of the - security council, and brought to the attention of the club members the importance of the assembly, the court of justice, the department of eco nomics and the secretariat.. There would be adjustments and compromises, ; she - stated, but. the proposals would serve as an outline for consideration of the conference at San Francisco, and give the countries of the world a concrete foundation on which to build an organization for peace.
