Last night in the headline tiff with Pete Belcastro, the hooded hoodlum made use of tape across the knuckles o f one hand and a knee bandage, not to mention the mask itself, which alone gives him an ad vantage over his opponent. Mr. Stoncface eked out a win over Pete, but not before he knew he had been to the wars. The masked mcneco started out the clambake by jumping the bell and giving Pete a few cranium wallops from behind. Referee Wally Moss offered to award Belcastro the bout, but Pete refused to accept and waded out to take his medicine. While tho fans screamed the roof off at the tactics of Mr. Stoncface. he proceeded, to take the first fall In short order with a stepovcr toe hold. It looked very much as if Pete was all done, but he pulled himself to gether and put on a one-man exhibition of mat mayhem that has seldom been rivaled here. With the crowd practically standing on- their seats, BoU caslro bolted the "Mask", from one side of the ring to the other and at one lime went down in the aisle after the veiled villain. After the second and third cantos had passed without a fall, Pete caught Mr. Stoncface with a Sonnenbcrg butt, plus a few well-placed forearm wal lops, and took . the flop that evened the count with a full body press. In the fifth heat, the hood ed heel fell back on all the stinkcroo tricks in the book and rendered Pete groggy with repeated head butts. Belcastro instinctively threw a few punches that landed and both musclcrs were wobbling all over the ring, when the "Mask" saw an opening and took the deciding fall with a body press. Ernie Piluso made an unsuc cessful return here in the semi windup by dropping his match with powerful Georges Dusette. It was a clean, scientific match with Ernie taking the first tumble with a peculiar . hold known as "Plluso's jacknife." Dusette applied his famed full Nolson twice in a row to take the next two falls and the match. The ooening battle between Tough Tony Ross and Wild Billy McEuin was fast and fur ious with Tony taking two out of three falls to the approval of the fans. March 24 (Pi Lt. Col. Eddie Eagan, new chair man of the New York state ath letic commission, has banned draw decisions at big time fights in New York. The ban, as significant as the no foul ruling a decade ago, was started at last night's Tami Maurlello-Lee Oma heavyweight 10-rounder in Madison Square Garden where Mauriello, a 3 to 1 underdog, surprised a crowd of 18,201 (gross gate $101,918) by winning decisively. Still puzzled by the Jimmy Bivins-Melio Bettina draw of a week ago when tho three offi cials voted three different ways, Col. Eagan explained his action at ringside before the Oma Mauriello bout started. "I have instructed the offi cials," the colonel said, "to keep a point-score along with the round-by-round method. If, for instance, they have each fighter winning five rounds, as hap pened on one card last week, they are to determine the win ner on the total point score. In this way, all draws will be eliminated." For point-scoring they were told that if a man won a round by a shade they should score that round 1-0; if a man won def initely it should be 2-0: if the round was one-sided, 3-0; and if very one-sided (meaning if any knockdowns), 4-0.- - TRUCKS AND PICKUPS FOR RENT You Drlra Long, Short Tripa Mot Yourself Sara H STILES' BEACON SERVICE Phone 8304 1201 East Main RADIO REPAIR By Expert Technicians GOOD STOCK OF AVAILABLE TUBES-PARTS-AERIALS For All Makes ol Radios ZEM AIM'S Quick, Guaranteed Service 116 N. 9th Phona 7522 Across From Montgomery Ward on Wotth tn FIGHTS By The Associated Press NEW YORK Tami Mauriel lo, 199, New York, outpointed Lee oma. iui, uetroit, jlu.
