Costume Party Camp Fire Girls and Blue Birds from all groups in the city enjoyed a Valentine costume party which was held on Fri day, reoruary B, in the auditor ium of Fremont school. Following the grand march prizes were awarded to Ann Golluspy for the most attrac live costume and to Betty franklin for the most humor ous. Many varied and attrac tive costumes were worn, and members o the Wahanka group were distinguished from others oy wearing a red heart upon which was printed the name of the group The girls . were entertained with impromptu piano solos by Jean &eioy, Mary Jane Howard and Susan Vandcnberg and dancing by Jean Adams, Diane Oldenburg, Barbara Babcock, Joan Hawkins and Ann Gal laspy. After group singing and games had been enjoyed by the guests, refreshments were serv ed to 120 girls by Mrs. R. W. Hooker, party chairman. Other leaders assisting during the evening were Mrs. Percy Mur ray, Mrs. Morgan Johnson, Mrs. J. K. McAndrews, Mrs. Harry Stoler and Mrs. J. F. Lovell. Fire Makers Six girls of the Wawakeye Camp Fire group held their Fire Maker's dinner on January 22 at the home of their guardian, Mrs. J. F. Lowell on 70S Jefferson. In order to fulfill this require ment, preparatory to taking Fire Maker's rank, the girls planned the well Balanced menu, pur chased the food, cooked and served the meal and cleaned the kitchen later. Candlelit tables added to the gaiety of the party, and 16 guests wero served by the hos tesses. Marilyn Hemminasen. Betty Bonnet, Catherine Blanas, Beverly Kohn, Dolores Kidder, and Sally Barnhiscl, assisted by Mrs. Matt Kohn Jr. and Mrs. Lovell. Carol Reynolds, scribe,' was asked to make a written re port of the dinner. Tau Chapter The Tau "chapter of Beta Sig ma Phi moot at the homo of Mrs. George Allcnsworth on 1130 Lincoln' street Thursday night. A very unique travel party was enjoyed by all and Mrs. Jules Napier was in charge of the games. Some very inter esting travel games were played concerning spots of interest around Klamath Falls and cities of the United States. Prizes for the games were won by Mrs. George Allcnsworth and Mrs. Lloyd Smith. The refreshments were served picnic stylo and marshmallows wore toasted in the fireplace during the course of the eve ning. Thoso present were Doris Yanlls, Mrs. Russcl Fairchild Jr., Lois Rumor, Mrs. George Allcnsworth. Mrs. Jules Napier. Lorna Halvorsen, Francis Balin, Helen Crnpo and Mrs. Lloyd Smith. . Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Scliarfonstcin have received notes from them saying that they have taken a house at Balboa Beach for six months. Their address Is 027 East Bay drive, Balboa Beach. Mrs, Scharfcnstcln writes that her husband s health is greatly improved. - ' Sojourners With a lovely bright sun shin ing on Valentine's Day, a fine attendance at Sojourners was noted, when members and guests gathered at the Willard hotel on Wednesday, for their mid-February mooting. Host esses for the afternoon were Mrs. Wilbur Shannon and Mrs. J. Miller Babcock, who had ar ranged clever little tallies and candies In the spirit of the day, to carry out the Valentine mo tif. Guests of the club for the af ternoon were Mrs. K. Nelson, Mrs. W. Sheldon, Mrs. Joe Mer ryman. Mrs. L. D. Stephens, Mrs. Frank Tarr, Mrs. F. A. Murphy, Mrs. Vera Wall, and from Mcdford, Mrs. E. N. De Prez. Three now members to be welcomed were Mrs. Ray Brown, Mrs. O. E. Powell, and Mrs. C. B. Larkin. Prizes, which are always de fense stamps at the regular meetings of Sojourners, were awarded in bridge to Mrs. C. A. Lundy and Mrs. Frank Tarr, and in pinochle to Mrs. A. J. Lambert. Preceding the social hour, a brief business meeting was con ducted by Mrs. Byron K. Fried 'man, president of the club. Ten volunteers for the February USO cookie project were called for in order to divide the work evenly among the members for the making of sixty dozen cook ies, which is the club's weekly quota throughout the month. Plans were discussed for the annual spring tea at the Wil lard hotel and the date was set for Wednesday, March 14. Chairman -and committees will be announced at the next meet ing, which will be February 28. ' Sketches Sale Kay Hoffman of Klamath Falls, a senior student of art at Montana State college, carried her studies far afield last Mon day when she was one of five students chosen to sketch the largest horse sale of the year al the Bozeman livestock yards. Some 300 horses afforded in teresting subject matter for the select group of artists, who rode to the sale yards in a stockman's truck, and sketched to the ac companiment of the crying of the auctioneer and business of the ring. She is the former Theresa Carlson of Hollywood. Lt. Lindh, son of Mr. Cus'i Lindh of this city, is now stationed at headquarters of the seventh service command in Omaha. He returned from overseas in December, 1943, offer completing his missions with'! the United States army air corps, flying out of Africa. Valen tine colors of red and white were used throughout the rooms. and luncheon was served to tne guests, who arrived at 8:30. Hamilton, all of the Marine Barracks. - Couple Marry , Married at the Klamath Luth eran ohurch on Wednesday, Feb ruary 7, were Thomas frank: Howell of the Klamath naval air station and Edllna Engel of Wing, North Dakota. The young couple were attended by Mrs. Leona Kolb of Portland. Oregon, and John T. Zebell, also of the 6ir station. The Reverend S. M: Topness officiated at the simple ceremony. At the organ was Mrs. A. H. Denison, who played the tradi tional wedding marches. Guests at the ceremony were Jean Al- man, Gwendolyn Haney, Mrs. Rauberta Jarde, I. Davis and A. Yesko, all of Klamath Falls. The couple are residing ' at 2520' S. 6th for the present time. Mrs. Moorhead Monday Speaker Mrs. George R. K. Moorhead, president of the Oregon State Federation of Women's clubs, was the guest speaker at the Monday afternoon meeting of the Klamath Falls Woman's Li brary club in the main auditorium of the city library. Mrs. Moorhead has been in Ashland conducting a series of classes there, and spent Monday here, returning in the afternoon. Mrs. Moorhead's talk 'Was informal and . centered around "Today's Family." She stressed the need of the "middle road" in the training and handling of young people of today and urged her listeners to be considerate of the problems which face young boys and girls in these times. During the afternoon Mrs. David Bridge was presented in a group of delightful vocal num bers accompanied at tne piano by Mrs. Don J. Zumwalt. There was an interesting dis play of family heirlooms and also baby pictures of members of the Library club, this fea ture arranged by Mrs. Carleton W. Hornibrook and Mrs. Hor ace E. Getz. At 12 - o clock noon, Mrs. Moorhead was complimented at a luncheon given by Mrs. Glenn Kent. Library club president, at the Pelican. Klamath Union high school. Soroptimists A Valentine banquet in the supper room of the Pelican cafe on Wednesday evening was a festive occasion for' the regular meeting of the Soroptimist club. Members of the Venture club were the guests of honor, and It was an opportunity to greet old acquaintances and meet new members of this active service organization. Humorous and in teresting sketches of the indi vidual's work were exchanged during the -dinner hour at the tables which had been beauti fully decorated with spring flowers,' tall white candles and Valentines. Songs in duet by Alyce Wells and Bud Sclby, accompanied at the piano by Barbara Zinn, de lighted the diners, who asked for many encores. These mu sicians are all pupils of Klamath Union high school, and show re markable talent and training. A ekic, illustrating comic val entines, under the direction, of Mrs. Ida Odell, created a great deal of merriment. With some of the guests posing in outland ish costumes .and make-ups, Mrs. Odell read short' poems appropriate to the picture,, The clever poetry was written by Mrs, Odell and won much ap plause from the audience.
