Secretary of War Stimson re ported today that army casual ties for all theaters, reported through October 14. numbered 403.074. The latest navy casual ly figure is 09,705. The army total represents an Increase of 18.179 for the inter, val between October 8, the date covered by the previous report, and October 14. In the same in terval, navy casualties increased 1225. . United States army ground force casualties in Italy, from, the oricinal landings in September, 1943, to October 16 numbered 91,063, an increase of 8952 since September 25. Armv casualties for all the ater through October 14, com pared with the f inures for Oc tober 6. follow: killed, 78.522 and 75.562; wounded. 220,529 and 208,392; missing, 51,009 and 48.404; prisoners, 53,014 and 52, 537 Comparative navy figures: killed. 27,831 and 27.047; wound- ed. 27,857 and 27.368; missing. 9537 and 9580; prisoners, 4460, unchanged from previous.
