Warns PO Christmas packages to mem bers of the armed forces over seas should bo wrapped for mail ing soon, po.ttofficc officials warn. Tho official mailing time for Christmas packages begins September 15 and ends October lo. more nas already peen con siderable Christmas mailing to navy personnel as they arc not bound by the some regulations as the army, which require a re quest from the man or woman in servico lor articles neing seni. During the time of the official mailing period, no request is nec essary. The following suggestions were made to mailers: Packages to bo sent overseas should not exceed 5 pounds in weight and should not be over 15 inches in length and not over 36 Inches in length and girth combined. The number which may bo mailed to one person is limited to one parcel per week from one individual during this period. : . Canned eoods bolnc sent to members of the armed forces will be inspected, sealed, and la beled by the home demonstration extension service, if so desired.. Cushion Articles Mailers should put plenty of cushioning around each article in the package to prevent damage and breakage. Boxes scaled With tape should also be tied with stout twine. All pnrcels should bo plainly marked "Christmas parcel." It is also a good Idea for the sender to put the address of the recipient inside tho package, as well as the outside so, if the package is damaged and the ad dress obliterated, the postal au thorities may still ascertain the correct destination. Write Logilly It is imperative that the ad dress be legible and it is better still if it is neatly printed in stead of written. The address of tho sender should be put on the upper left hand corner of the parcel. . The Pelican Bay Lumber com pany furnishes boxes for mail ing purposes and they may be obtained at the banks, the cham ber of commerce, or the Willard, Wi-ne-ma, and Hall hotels. Many of these boxes arc in use al ready, it was reported. . Postmaster Burt E. Hawkins stated that it is a good. idea to mail ' Christmas gifts to service men and women as early as pos sible because of the shortage of help at the present time. If peo ple wait until the last minute to mail their parcels, there is no assurance that tne guts will ar rive by Christmas, he said. If it's a "frozen" article yon need, advertise for a used one in the classified.
