BAUMAN WASHINGTON, July 27 () lne ? annual automoDiie use tax was paid on nearly 2,400,000 fewer cars in the fiscal year ended June 30 than In the pre ceding 12 months. This is among the facts re vealed today in the internal reve nue bureau s annual breaKdown on who paid what to produce record-breaking $40,121,760,232 Internal revenue receipts. The $5 automobile use tax pro duced $134,325,537, a decline of $11,863,746. This meant that nearly 2,400 000 motorists either had (1) junked their cars, (2) put them up for the duration, or (3) de cided to risk the $25 penalty provided for not having the use sticker. Gasoline taxes also reflected rationing and tire shortages, This tax brought in $271,216,501, a .decline of $17,569,324. : Income and excess profits taxes provided more than three fourths of the total revenue. . Corporation income -taxes ac counted for $5,284,145,852, an increase of $763,294,142: individ ual income taxes (exclusive of withholding), $10,437,570,433; up $4,493,653,454; withholding, $7, 823,434,977, up $7,137,419,966. - Excess profits taxes amount ed to $9,345,198,293 an increase Of $4,Z81,334,679. Liquor taxes totaled $1,618, 775,155, an increase of $195,128,-699. lodacco taxes brought in $988,483,236, up $64,625,953. Snuff, usually thought of as out of date, accounted for $7,692,236 of the tobacco total. Employment taxes jumped $239,667,402 from $1,498,705,- U33 to $1,736,372,435. Some of the miscellaneous taxes: Transportation (seats and berths), $153,682,607, up $66, 550,873; bowling alleys and pool tables, $2,208,422 up $355,757. While early reports are not al ways a reliable indication, these now show a 10 per cent upturn in applications approved for fall renn entrance.
