McSpaden shot a record-shat tering third-round 63 yesterday on the 6575 yard par 72 Fort Douglas course, rated the tough est in Utah. The Jug won the $2500 tour nament with a 271, two strokes under Byron Nelson of Toledo, Ohio, and another record. At the end of 38 holes. Nelson had a 67-65 143 and McSpaden a 69-67 136. But Nelson's lead melted when McSpaden's putter ignited. McSpaden's 63 was two strokes under the competitive course rec ord of 65 set several years ago by Tee .Branca, then home pro, His 271 total, 17 strokes under par for the 72 holes was two under the Utah open record. Marble Cook as KUHS football, basketball, and physical education instruc tor is the culmination of efforts that started as soon as former Coach Ramsey announced that he was going to join the marines. Placement bureaus, high schools, colleges, and private sources all over the country were contacted in the search for the right man. Forty-seven different people filed application or indi cated that they were interested in the position. Many hours were devoted to the study of credentials by school officials.
