In Junior Chamber Drive The Junior chamber of com merce paper drive on Sunday netted 70 tons of paper vital to the war effort according to early reports. The total may climb even higher. The 70 tons represents 140, 000 pounds or two full carloads. The drive cdVered the whole city and suburban districts. Ten trucks were uscdUo pick up the bundles. The trucks were donated by tho following business firms: Swift and company; Superior Troy Laundry; Balsiger Motor Women, Children Evacuate London As Bombs Fall i (Continued from Page One) tacks, cricket matches at Lord's, the greyhound racing tracks and other outdoor sporting events drew large crowds over the weekend. At White City track, spotters were mounted atop a 108-foot floodlight tower and alerts were sounded over a loudspeaker system. Theatres Close London's legitimate theatres, however, felt effects of the ro bot assaults, 13 of them closing Saturday night. Most of the re mainder play to meager audiences. The government, meanwhile, opened the first of eight deep i shelters equipped with comfort- able bunks to accommodate 8000 persons each. The shelters, 100 feet underground, have large canteens serving hot drinks and sandwiches, radios, hot and cold running water and large playgrounds for children. Admission is by ticket. company; Consolidated Freight ways; Bend - Portland Truck Service; J. W. Kerns; Safeway Stores Incorporated; Klamath Packing company and Conner's Service company. Due to the vast amount of paper collected and short time in which it was collected, it is possible that a few bundles of paper were missed. Anybody who has paper that wasn't col lected is asked to leave it on the curb in front of the Safe way store at Twelfth and Main either Monday or Tuesday. Marvin Hixon, publicity di rector for tho Junior chamber of commerce, said that he was very grateful for the flno co operation shown by the citizens of Klamath Falls and the sub urban area In helping put the drive over. Mount Ernpuca, in the Copal Zone of the Honduras, Is sinking at an alarming rate. Agriculture on the sides of the mountain Is being ruined and more than 650 acres of cornfields have disappeared. Here's an Illustration of what happens when inflation geU loose: In 1938, the value of the Greek drachma was nine-tenths of ono American cent. The U. S. cent is now worth 175,000 drachmas.
