As worked out by a senate house conference committee, the political action clause prohibits uso of any funds for tho salaries of employes who violate the Hatch anti-politics act for the statute prohibiting legislative activity, such as lobbying, by government workers while on government time. In addition, it provides for dismissal of any war food ad ministration employe found, after hearings, to have "demand ed that a farmer join the triple A program as a condition for draft deferment or for the grant ing of a priority certificate" for gasoline or any other rationed article. The house originally wrote In to the appropriations measure an outright ban against any political activity by agriculture depart ment workers, but the senate struck it out. This week the house voted 210 to 123 to Insist upon its retention. ELECTED PORTLAND June 23 (P) The Oregon Apartment House association has elected Oscar Pedcrson, Portland, president. Peterson Named to Welfare Commission Fred Peterson, has been, re appointed chairman of the Klamath County Public Wel fare commission for 'another four-year term by Governor Earl- Snell, It was learned this week. The new term begins July l, 1944, and ends June 30, 1048. Peterson has been a member of the public welfare commis sion since its organization a number of years ago and was chairman of the commission during the last four-year term.
