Malcolm Teare on Fri day afternoon, August the thirteenth. The party was held on the lovely lawn and the gueata enjoyed the beau tiful gladioli and other flow rrs around the yard. The meeting was in charge of the prealdent, Beaaia Tra der. A dlacuaalon of houae plants and home gardens was rnjoyed. The next meeting of the garden club will be held on Auguit the twenty-aaventh at the home of Mrs. Mary Sparka. There will be a dis play of flower arrangements by the membera at thla meet ing and everyone la invited to attend. LOPEZ FAMILY VISITS IN SPRAGUE RIVER Private Flrat Clasa Yndal eclo Lopez of Grand Island air buso, Nebraska, waa a gueat in Sprague River visiting his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Solio Lopez. Private Lo pez was accompanied from Re-. no by his wifo and small son. This was Lopez first fur lough since entering the serv ice. Mrs. Sollo Lopez entertain ed wjth a dinner party for her slstcr-ln-law and brother on Monday evening, August the ninth. R musical program after dinner was enjoyed. Vo cal numbers were sung by Mrs. Ashley Sllnkerd, accom panied on the guitar by Soilo Lopez. Mrs. Mariano Valle played Oflnd sang Spanish numbers. Private Lopez and family left Tuesday evening, August the tenth, to return to his base and also visit In Qulncy, Cali fornia, where Mrs. Lopez makes her homo. ' PFC CHATBURN OF MERRILL IS HONORED Mr. and Mrs. Tom Chat burn of Morrill entertained with a family picnic at Moore park on Sunday, August the fifteenth, in honor of their son, Prlvato First Class Tom Q) ChRtburn Jr., who was home on furlough. Bridge Party Held' Monday Mrs. Schneebeck Hos tess at Home on Jef ferson Street Mrs. E. J. Schneebeck was hostess at her home on Jef ferson street Monday after noon to a bridge party given for a few friends. High prize in cards for the afternoon was won by Mrs. Phil Schroedcr and low by Mrs. William Boy er. Theme for decorations and favors was the daisy. Small hair berets of dalalea were given to each gueat and there . were bowls of the summer flowers around the rooms. CARDS The Thursday Contract club waa entertained Auguat the nineteenth by Pearl Yorke land, 51D North Eleventh street. Dessert luncheon was served at two o'clock to Idollne Schupp, Bertha Hewitt, Fan nie Thompion, Willa Bark, Cecil Sparks, Clara McPher ren, Stella Dryden and the hostess. Contract bridge fol lowed, with high score held by Fannie Thompson, second by Stella Dryden and the spec ial award went to Bertha Hew itt. Willa Bark will be hostess for the next meeting on Sep tember the second. , FRIENDLY CIRCLE ENTERTAINED AT LOWE HOME Agnace Lowe, aaslsttd by Nettie Good, entertained the membera and gueata of the Friendly Circle at the home of the former on Homedale road, Thursday, August the nine teenth. HUASSMAN COMPLIMENTED ON BIRTHDAY The home of Mrs. Dcna Hauasman was the scene of a birthday party given as a sur price by her many friends on August eighth. She received many and useful gifts. Her son Ralph presented her with a beautiful birthday cake. AUXILIARY HAS INITIATION CEREMONY The auxiliary to the Veter ans of Foreign Wars met in the library club room Thurs day evening, August the nine teenth, at eight o'clock. Fol lowing the regular business meeting there was an initia tion ceremony, with Sophia Young and Margaret Young becoming members at this time. Two out-of-town guests were present, Mrs. Florence Miller of Vallejo, California and Mrs. Noy McDanlel of Sacramen to. At the close of the meeting the auxiliary adjourned to the KC hall where the Veterans entertained them at supper. KLAMATH GIRLS EXHIBIT WORK AT ASHLAND SOUTHERN OREGON COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, Ashland Students of art at the Southern Oregon College of Education displayed a col lection of their varied work during the assmbly hour on Wednesday, August the eigh teenth. The display waa con ducted by two members of the art class, Helen Olson and Lois Redford. who displayed the work, discussed methods of producing the art objects, cost of the material, and their uses. Among student who ex hibited work were Mildred and Elsie SchulU of Klamath Falls. PFC ENGLES ENTERTAINED AT GRAY HOME FORT KLAMATH Mrs. Bert Gray and Miss Alice Gray entertained on Tuesday even ing at the home of the latter with a dinner given in honor of PFC Weston Engles of th marine corps who is home on a thirty day furlough after spending nineteen months overseas. During this time, he participated in th battle of Guadalcanal. Covers were laid for Mrs. Olive Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Har ry Engle, Miss Barbara Gray of Klamath Agency, PFC En gl and the two hostesses.. . GERALD KNAPP .GIVEN BIRTHDAY PARTY RECENTLY WEYERHAEUSER CAMP 4 Gerald Lee Knapp was honored on his eighth birth day with a party given by his mother, Mrs. H. L. Knapp of Weyerhaeuser Camp 4, on August seventeenth, which is also the date of Mrs. Knapp's birthday. Guests were Fred West, Billy Stacy, Billy Holmes, Margaret Ogle, Carol Fried rich, Betty Benton, Truman Sandlin, Barbara Johnson and -Howard Roberts. Mrs. Archie West and Mrs. Wayne Knapp assisted with the party and took pictures of the children. There will be a Joint picnic -between the Merrill lodge number 187, IOOF, and th Klamath Falls lodge number 137 at Moore park on Sunday, August the twenty-second. Lodges will furnish the ice cream, pop, and coffee. Fea ture attraction of the after noon will be a big ball game between Merrill and Klamath Falls lodges.
