On Monday afternoon mem bers of the Garden club met with the newly elected presi dent, Mrs. Horace E. Getz, at her home, SI I Pacific Terrace, Plans for the show were made. This year there will be a com petitive horticultural show and tables will be decorated by Individuals. The "Victory Gar den" theme will be stressed ' and on the long tables will be arrangements of fruits, vege tables and flowers. Mrs. Getz is in charge of tables, Mrs. . Hornibrook and Mrs. Get. i GARDEN CLUB MEETING DATE ; CHANGED The August meeting of the Garden club will be held Monday, Xugust thirtieth, at two o'clock in the library club rooms, it was announced . this week by Mrs. Horace E. Getz, chairman. The meeting Was slated previously for Au gust twenty-third. Members ' ere asked to make note of the : change. In charge of the program Is Mrs. Albert O. Roenicke who will discuss winter care of root vegetables. Engagement Announced Lucy Kimball To Wed Donald Smith of Navy At Future Date Mr. and Mrs. Warner Kim ball, 4878 Crosby street, have recently announced the en gagement of their daughter, Lucy Ann, to Donald Paul Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roderick M. Smith of 031 Prospect street Lucy and Don are both graduates of Klamath Union high school. She attended the University of Oregon last year and ha spent one year at the university and one year at Oregon State college. He is now with the navy overseas and is serving as a radar op erator. He enlisted with the naval reserve program while at the university. No definite date has been set for the wedding. NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN ENJOY LAWN PARTY Mrs. Frank Thompson en tertained pre-fchool children of her neighborhood at her home on Hope street last weekend in honor of the birthday of three-year-old Delmer Wilker. The children played on the lawn and later enjoyed re freshments of cookies and punch. Those who attended the party were Delmer Wilker, Erln 'ReUly, Pat Thompson, Marshall Thompson, Fred Tracy, Merle Tracy, Orland Weaver, Diane Wilker, Don na Fae Wilker. MRS. WILLIS HONOR GUEST AT PARTY. Mrs. Edward B. Goeckner entertained at her homo en Thursday evening, August the nineteenth, in honor of Mrs. Tom Willis of Los Angeles, who is visiting hero for sev eral days. Bridge was enjoyed during the evening with high prize being won by Mrs. Willis, sec ond by Mrs. Richard Hibb and low by Mrs. Edward Schneebeck. Guests included Mrs. L. K. Leila Hearn Weds Ryland Shock Here Ceremony Held in Auditorium of Assembly of God Church in Klamath Falls Saturday Wedding bells rang on Saturday, August the fourteenth, at an evening ceremony for Miss Leila Marie Hearn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hearn, and Mr. Ryland Shock, son of Mrs. Eva Shock of Stanley, Wisconsin. The ceremony was solemnized by Reverend Harold Persing at the Assembly of God church in Klamath Falls. Mrs. Ola Mae Carter played the wedding march and Mrs. Muriel Garlch sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly." The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a wedding dress of white satin with long train. The sweet heart neckline was trimmed 1 in small pearls as was the full veil of illusion net. She carried a white Bible with white satin streamers. Mrs. Roberta Jorde was ma tron of honor for the bride. She wore a baby blue chiffon dress and carried a bouquet of sweet peas in harmonizing shades. Bridesmaids were Miss Ma bel Weaver, Miss Georgia Hearn, Miss Diane Landrum and Mrs. Lyla Mae Foster. They wore baby blue and pink taffeta and chiffon frocks and wore shoulder corsages of deep pink rose buds. Little two-year-old Marie Elena Pont, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Her long frock was of deep pink taf feta and net with a matching sweetheart bonnet Her cor sage was of deep pink biby rose buds. Pierre E. Pont acted as best man and Jim Kennerly, W. D, Bigby, Reverend Claude Pur duo and Mr. Bruener were ushers. A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents. The couple are now residing at 1336 Oak street LT. BALSIGER TO MARRY IN ALBANY SUNDAY A wedding of interest to Klamath Falls people will take place this Sunday in the Presbyterian church in Al bany when Lieutenant Eston Balslger, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Balslger of this city, will marry Miss Billie Lorraine Fitzpatrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Fitzpatrick. Lieutenant Balslger Is an Instructor at Mather field, California. Details of the wed ding will be told next week. Mertrice Anderson, Mary Jo Hallett, Elder Lott, Elder Dav is, Elder Levitt, Raymond Ov erson, Barbara Burroughs and Jeanette Burrows. The couple left after the ceremony for a week's stay at Lake o' the Woods. They are now making their home at the Marion apartments. Miss Dutton Becomes Bride Klamath Girl Marries In Ceremony at Biggs Field in Texas ' Miss Wanda L. Dutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Dutton of Klamath Falls, became the bride of Lieutenant Arthur S. Marcoul lier in a ceremony read at Biggs field, Texas, on August the third. Chaplain Otho A. Eure officiated. The bride was dressed in a sky blue ensemble with acces-, sories of navy blue. She wore flowers in her hair and a . shoulder corsage of pink roses. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Marcoullicr of Westfield, Massachusetts. The couple plans to make their home in Tucson, Arizona. MRS. PARKHURST GIVEN FAREWELL DINNER PARTY Farewells were said this week to Mrs. Harlan M. Park hurst, a resident of Klamath Falls for many years, who left for Portland where she plans to make her home. Members of the Presbyter Ian Sunday school staff, the Dorcas circle, and the Mis sionary circle entertained for Mrs. Parkhurst at a potluck dinner held in the church on Monday evening this last week. Mrs. Parkhurst was given several gifts from the group. Mrs. Elizabeth Waldo Tay lor, In her ninety-first year, finished the evening by play ing on the piano, "Auld Lang Syne" and "God Be With Vou Till We Meet Again." SERVICEMEN ARE HONORED AT SUNDAY DINNER Mr. and Mrs. R. Henry An derson of the Merrill road were hosts at dinner Sunday in honor of Ed Hosley, AMM 3c with the navy, and Ser geant Bill DeCue, who is with the army air corps. Both men were home for a short time and both left on Monday, August the fifteenth, for duty. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Martin and Betty Rea and Buddy Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ramsby and Sue, Mrs. Maude Hosley, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Goeckner and children, Larry and Martin Snyder, John Martin, Ed Hos ley and Mr. and Mrs. Bill DeCue.
