PAGE SIX Jane LaLonde Is Bride Wednesday Klamath Girl Weds Lt. Michaud in Rites in Sac red Heart Church This Week At an eight o'clock ceremony Wednesday morning at the Sacred Heart church, Jane Lillian LaLonde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. LaLonde of this city, became the bride of Lieu tenant Leonard P. Michaud. Father Timothy Casey read the double-ring ceremony. The groom it a on of Mn. Peter Pclkey of Concord, New Hampshire. The altar was banked with gladioli. During the nuptial mass, Miss Mary Louise Sexton sang the "Ave Maria." The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a dark brown suit with tan acces- sories and a small brown hat. Her corsage was of orchids, and the carried a small prayer book. For the "something bor rowed" she wore a cameo ring belonging to Mrs. Ray Barnes, a girlhood friend. Her only other Jewelry was a gold cross and chain given to her by the groom. Mrs. Stephen Sabo, Jr., was the matron of honor. She wore a powder blue suit and hat with white accessories. Her corsage was of white gar denias. The best man, Master Sergeant L. A. Michaud, is the groom's brother and is at present stationed at Hammer field, Fresno, California. Mrs. LaLonde, the bride's mother, wore a navy redin gote with red accessories and corsage of red roses. Following the service, a re ception was held at the home of the bride's parents on Up ham street. Only members of the family and close friends -attended. The cake was cut by the bride and the first piece was set aside to be sent to Lieutenant Michaud's moth er in New Hampshire. Lieutenant and Mrs. Mich aud left on Thursday morning for Chanute field, RantouL Illinois, where he is officer in charge of detachment second I r w a y communications squadron. . Mrs. Michaud is well known in Klamath Falls and has Just recently completed a three years course in nursing at St Joseph's school of nursing in Tacoma, Washington. Out-of-town guests for the wedding were Everett La Londe of Portland, brother of the bride; Mrs. Ray Barnes of Alexandria, Louisiana; Lee Wenzel of Los Angeles, and Master Sergeant L. A. Mich aud of Hammer field, Fresno, California. Engagement Announced Ruth Pennington to . Marry Donald Phelps At Future Date Mr. and Mrs. Lester Pen nington of Eldorado street recently announced the en gagement of their oldest daughter, Ruth, to Donald Phelps, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Phelps of this city. No definite date has been set for the wedding as Mr. Phelps is to leave for service with' the armed forces this month. Miss Pennington Is a gradu ate of Klamath Union high school and attended Oregon State college for one year. Donald Phelps Is well known in Klamath Falls, hav ing attended Klamath Union high school here. . SOCIAL CLUB ENJOYS MEETING AT COFER HOME . Sixteen members and guests attended the meeting of the Rebekah Social club held on Wednesday, August the eleventh, at the home of Alma Cofer, 1017 High street. A pot luck picnic was served on the lawn, and during the short, business meeting plans were discussed for the Rebek ah convention to be held In Klamath Falls on September the sixteenth, at which time Myrtle McCullum, president of the assembly will be pre sent. Marjorie Jones was a guest of the afternoon, and those at tending employed themselves with handwork, some of them doing Red Cross sewing. Mrs. Wilson of Lincoln street will be hostess for the next meet ing, and will be assisted by Kathleen Hepburn. MRS. DEARBORN, MRS. LEAVITT COMPLIMENTED LANGELL VALLEY Mr. and Mrs. Myron Dearborn en tertained at dinner Tuesday evening at their home in honor of the birthdays of his mother, Mrs. Mary Dearborn, and his sister, Cora Leavitt. Guests were Mrs. Dearborn, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Leavitt and Doris, Mary and Calvin Leavitt, and the hosts. Celebrate Birthdays Two Small Girls From Sprague River Honor Guests at Parties SPRAGUE RIVER Two small Sprague River girls cele brated their ninth birthdays this past week. Mary Jean Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Davis and Theodora Montgomery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Montgomery celebrated their birthdays. On August the third, friends of Mary Jean Davis gathered at her home to help celebrate her anniversary. Games were -played and at three o'clock the candles on the birthday cake were lighted. Gifts were opened and later refreshments were served to Clarene Welch, Neva Thurman. Jane Had dock, Ellen Haddock, Jessie Lee Roper, Martha Jane Rop er. Jodean Hill, Sylvia Lou Hill. DarreU Hill, Theodora Montgomery and Mayford Clarke. Mrs. Tom Clarke helped Mrs. Davis serve. On August the fifth, a group of friends of Theodora Mont gomery came to her house at two o'clock. Melda Chandler -took charge and directed the games. Gifts were later . opened while Mrs. Montgomery, as sisted by June Hagan, pre pared the refreshments which were later served to Sylvia : Lou Hill, Jessie Lee Roper, Martha Jane Roper. STANSBIE HONORED ON ANNIVERSARY Mrs. Mary Wilson of the Stansble apartments, 1143 Pine street, was hostess at a birthday dinner given in hon or of Mr. Allen Stansble of Ashland, Oregon, on August the eleventh. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stansbie, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Brannon and daughter Joyce Marie, Mr. Brannon's mother, Martha Brannon, Bertha Wilson, a granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Wilson, and Emma Otey of Dorris, California. . MRS. LAVIN IS HOSTESS AT MEET OF AUXILIARY Mrs. Margaret Lavin was hostess to a social meeting of the auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Wednes day, August the eleventh, at eight o'clock, at her home on 426 North Second street. Attending were Arvle Jenk ins, Charlotte Canoy, Ruby -Roufs. Theresa Allesch, Caro line Williams, Martha Bar ron, Anna McGillivary, Fay Myers and the hostess. Fort Klamath Club Plans Canteen Civic Improvement Organization Meets to Talk About Service for Forest Workers FORT KLAMATH The regular meeting of the Civic Improvement club was held in the clubhouse on Friday after noon with Mrs. Frank Denton, president, presiding over the meeting. During the routine business discussion, plans were com plete for the canteen service to be sponsored by the club members for the U. S. forest service, whereby the women will be prepared to serve meals to fire fighters either at the club house if convenient or at the scene of a fire. Committees are to be appointed this week by the president, it was decided. Following the business meet- lng, an enjoyable social hour was passed by those present. Refreshments were later serv ed by the hostesses, Mrs. Wil liam C. Hackler and Mrs. Don ald Jacob. For the occasion, the club house was decorated with a profusion of late sum mer flowers from the gardens of Mrs. Hackler and Mrs. Lee Denton. AUXILIARY MEETS AT KC HALL ON THURSDAY EVENING The regular meeting of the ladies' auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen was held in the KC hall Thursday evening, August the twelfth, at eight o'clock. At the close of the lodge meeting Myrtle Guthrie, chairman, presented the fol lowing entertainment: two songs by Letha Horne, a tap dance by Janice Pex and two piano solos by Carmen Lee Jones. After this, the refresh ment committee, Grace Gen ereux, Rita Fuller, Margaret Fuller and Viola Fessenden, served refreshments. At the next meeting, September the ninth, there will be initiation of new members. CHARIVARI IS EVENT AT VALLEY SATURDAY NIGHT LANGELL VALLEY Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Rayson, newlyweds of Langell Valley, were given a charivari at the community hall on Saturday night. A large crowd enjoyed dancing with music by Merle Brewster, Ray Davis, Bill Noble and Irwin Pool. Refreshments were served during the evening. HERALD ANT) NEWS. The affair was a farewell party for Jimmy Barnes, who left Sat urday for Fort Douglas, Utah, to be in the army air corps. A picnic dinner was served at three o'clock in the after noon. The club has undertaken to tend cardt to men In the serv ice from this district. Tha grange service flag now hits eight atari and these tland for men all members of the Mid land Orange. Mitt Betty Huck received a prize for the afternoon. Mrt. John LUkry, Jr., and Miss Goorgio Liskey assisted Mrt. Liskey In serving delici ous refreshments at the clou of the pleasant afternoon.
