PFC M'DANIEL IS HOUSE GUEST OF MERLE WESTS. . A house guost of the Merls West at their home on North Fourth street Is PFC Thomas McDanlel who was with the marine on Guadalcanal. Private McDanlel made a previou trip to Klamath Falls as a guest of the Commandos and enjoyed his visit here so thoroughly that Mr. and Mrs. West invited him to return as their guest. After a ten-day stay here, e will leave for Jacksonville, Florida, to report at a hospital or surgery and expect to be hospitalized for at least four months. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas L. Barry Jr. of Lakeview and Klamath Falls are the par ents of a girl which has been named Molly Kathleen. The little girl was born on Friday morning, August tho sixth, at Hlllsldo hospital. Mr. Barry is stationed with the navy at the flight engineers school at LaGuardia field, New York. Ho was transferred from navy . pier last month. M"rs. Barry Is the former Ronclla Shlpman. Miss Klinkerman, who was on her first trip west, spent several days here with the Howards, enjoying a trip to Crater -lake and other points of interest during her stay. She left Wednesday morning, planning to visit with rela tives in Seattle, Washington, and in Emmett, Idaho, before returning home. , Host To Circle At Tea Mrs. G. James Coonan To Wed in South Former Klamath Resident to Marry Miss Lurlins , Roth of San Francisco in Near Future Of surprise to many Klamath Falls people was the recent announcement in the San Francisco Examiner of the engage ment of Lieutenant James Coonan, formerly of this city, and Miss Lurline Roth of San Francisco. Lieutenant Coonan made his home here for the past few years with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Mortenson of Klamath Falls. He was a popular member of the younger set here and was employed at the Pelican Bay Lumber company. . The following is an article taken from the San Francisco - Miss Zissos Bride-Elect Spokane Church To Be Scene of Wedding in Mid-September The engagement of Miss Penelope (Peggy) Zissos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Blanas of this city, was announced this week. She is to be married on September the sixteenth in Spokane, Washington, to Mr. Constantine Kassabettis. The ceremony will take place in the Spokane Greek Orthodox church. Miss Zissos will have as her attendants her sister, Mrs. John Demson of Yakima as her matron of honor, and Mrs. Harold Hutchinson. Frances and Elaine Demson will be flower girls. Miss Zissos has lived In Klamath Falls most of her life. ' She will leave for Spokane be tween the first, and the fifth of September. Bride-to-be Honored Miss Peggy Robertson Of Sacramento to Wed Lt. Bernasco At a dinner given on Fri day, August the thirteenth by Mrs. Dora Mae Kelley and Miss Doris Hapgood in Sacra mento, California, the engage ment of Miss Peggy Robert son to Lieutenant Carl L. Bernasco of the United States army air forces was announc ed. The dinner was given ln honor of Miss Robertson and was attended by many of her friends.- . Miss Robertson is a native of Klamath Falls and is a . graduate of the Bonanza high - school. She attended business school in Sacramento and has since' been employed as a stenographer for the Califor nia Western States life insur ance company. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Etta Kilgore and the sis ter of Mr. Gene Robertson, both of whom reside in this city. Lieutenant Bernasco a t present is a flying pilot on a Billy Mitchell bomber in New Guinea. Many of Miss Robertson's Klamath county friends have extended their congratula tions. For the past ten months the prospective benedict has been away from the local scene but he return ed home yesterday, after hav ing been commissioned last week at Fort Benning, Ga., and the announcement was immediately readied. Wedding bells are planned for the not too distant future, exact date setting depending on the bridegroom-elect's as signment at the conclusion of his short leave. Lurline, one of the young set's favorites, is the identi cal twin sister of Mrs. Spencer Grant Jr. (Bernlce Roth), who joined bridal ranks nearly two years ago at an elaborate cere mony performed at Filoli, the Roth home at Woodside. Since the war, she has devoted most of her time to Red Cross work ' of which her mother is chair man of the local volunteer services. Sister of William M. ' Roth, who is doing govern ment work in the east, she is the granddaughter of the lata Capt. and Mrs. William Mat son. After graduating from Mis Hamlin's school, she and her sister suent a vear in travel made their Mayfair bow at a September '39 ' debut ball, which was also held at Filoli. Descendant of equally well known clans -is her fiance, who is the eldest son of the Clarence Coonans. He is a brother of Michael, now with the Army Air Forces, and Torimro.
