Marion Bond Marries Tulelake Girl Is Wed To Sergeant in Reno Ceremony Recently TULELAKE Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Bond this week an nounced the marriage of their youngest daughter, Marian Ruth to Staff Sergeant kcland Tlner of Oakland, California. Sergeant Tlner Is now station ed at the Hill military reser vation In Virginia. The young couple, accom panied by Mr. and Mrs. Hu bert Bond and Mr. and Mrs. William Bond, also of Tule lake, traveled to Reno for the ceremony on July tho tenth. Reverend Buschener, pastor of the First Methodist church of Reno, officiated. The groom Is tho son of Mrs. Shirley Tlner of Oak land. Given In marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress maker ensemble of blue with deep blue accessories. She carried an old-fashioned bou quet. Her only attendant was her elder sister. Miss Patricia Bond of Sacramento. William Bond, brother of the bride, was the best man. Mrs. Tlner, one of the popular members of the younger set of Tulelake, was graduated from the Tulelake high school with the class of 1041. She has been employed for tha past several months at the board of equalization In Sacramento. The groom will return to his post in Virginia and tho bride will continuo with her position in Sacramento for the time being. MRS. M'DONALD HAS PARTY ON BIRTHDAY MERRILL Mrs. Levi (Bird) McDonald was delight fully entertained In honor of a birthday anniversary at a dinner at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Craven, 1034 Esplanade in Klamath Falls', on Sunday, July the eleventh. Mrs. McDonald Is a native of Klamath county, having been born near Bonanza. For many years with Mr. Mc Donald she resided on a stock ranch in Langcll valley, serv ing as correspondent for the Klamath Herald and News. Twelve years ago they came to Merrill, purchasing the Lost River hotel which they still manage. The attractive dinner table t which the guests' were seated was centered with spires of delphinium. Present for the affair were Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Roder ick Smith, Mrs. Stanley Ha Jlcck, Mr. McDonnld, Sharon Lee Willlts, a granddaughter of tho honor guest, and Mar cclyn Wiggins. Kcnnell-Ellis Community Guild Meets Tulelake Club- Meets 'At Newton Home on Wednesday, July 7 TULEL A KE The Com munity Guild met for a pot lunch "brunch" Wednesday, July seventh at the home of Mrs. Tom Newton. Mrs. Roy Urboch led the devotlonals and roll call as a lead to the highlight of the program was answered with the favorite book of each mem ber. Mrs. M. V. Maxwell pre sented the Interesting book of short stories by Marjorio Kinnan Rowlings and the next book suggested for review is "Miz Rowling's Cookery" by the same author. Mrs. H. T. Street reported that progress is being made on plans for the fire rscap from the second story of th annex of the Tulelako Com munity church and that work will begin in tho near future. A picnic is planned for the next regular meeting, time to be announced later and tho event to begin at 1 p. m. at the home of Mrs. H. T. Street. Mrs. Tom Newton, program chairman for the session, hop es to have Mrs. E. D. Lamb, Klamath Falls authority on flower arrangement, present for the meeting. All who plan to attend are asked to bring blooms from their gardens and containers with which to make arrangements. Guests for the afternoon wero Mrs. J. L. DYSERT GIVEN PARTY AT TULELAKE TULELAKE Mrs. Donald Dysert, the former Wanda Long, was delightfully hon ored early this month at a miscellaneous shower at which three former high school classmates were hos tesses. Invitations were issued by Ynetto Carlisle, Imogene Rowan and Patty Brooks for the party at tho home of Miss Carlisle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Carlisle. The evening following tha opening of the gifts was spent informally until refreshment time when the guests gather ed about tho prettily decor ated table which was cen tered with a wedding cake. Live say arrived at Camp White this week to command the 8 1st in fantry division. Tho former chief of staff of the Puerto Rico department replaced Major Gen eral Charles H. Hanks Honored Recent Bride Honored At Bridal Shower at Kriz Home Mrs. Kathleen Zrlz of 700 Mitchell street was a hostess on Thursday evening, July the eighth, at a miscellaneous bridal shower for Mrs. James Hanks, the former Ramona Myrtle Kester. The wedding took place In Medford on June the twenty-eighth. Both young people are from pioneer Klam ath families. The Kriz home was beauti fully decorated with early summer flowers for the oc casion. During the afternoon, Mar jorie McCollum entertained with two vocal solos. Pinochle and Chinese checkers were lat er played by the guests. Re freshments were served and the table was centered with a beautiful wedding cake. A large clothes basket dec orated in pink and white was filled with gifts for the bride. Charles King and the hostess. Many gifts were also re ceived from friends who were not able to attend. Fort Klamath Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Wright spent several days last week vis iting in Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Brown of Crystal return Friday from Salem, where they have spent the past several weeks. J. Upton Worthington of Pais ley was a guest in Fort Klamath over the weekend at the R. S. Dixon and Loren Miller homes. Alfred B. Castel was a busi ness visitor in Klamath Falls Fri day. Jerry Sisemore Is suffering from an attack of pleurisy con tracted from an injury received at the rodeo in Klamath Falls on July 4th when his horse became frightened and threw Sisemore, who received two broken ribs as a result of the mishap. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johans sen and daughter Barbara, re turned Saturday to their home in Sunnyville, Calif., after spending a week here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Denton and their house guest. Mrs. Clara Beall, who is Mrs. Denton's sis ter. Mrs. Johanssen is Mrs. Bcall's daughter, and accompany ing the Johanssens on the return trip to California was Delbert Sedlacek, nephew and grandson, respectively, of Mrs. Denton and Mrs. Beall, who returned to his home in Vallejo after spending some time here visiting at the Denton home. Wednesday shoppers and visi tors in Klamath Falls were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dyche and Mrs. Joe White. While in Klamath Falls, they called on Mrs. Ed Cross, former Fort Klamath resi dent. W. Lambert of Klamath Tails was in Fort Klamath last week and expects to move here soon on to the Jackson Horton prop erty on Wood river, which he purchased recently from Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Horton of Bonanza. Lake Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vanslyke and Jerry and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vansylke and family from Hit- debrand, Bill Smith Is here spending a few days with his daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Huffman, and Mr. Huffman. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Croly and Mr. and Mrs. Tiny Ough were at Odell lake over the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Menis Hamblin and Edgar Hamblin drove to Klamath Falls after work Sat urday and spent the weekend visiting Mrs. Edgar Hamblin and Lewis, also Mrs. Lucille Sher man who is a daughter. She will be there two weeks visiting. Mrs. C. G. Evans was called to the bedside of her mother who is very ill, in Oklahoma. She left early Sunday morning. Mrs. C. G. Evans delivered a message in the Apostolic Faith church in Klamath Falls on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Harley McWll llams have moved to the Harry Short property recently vacated by P. G. Short. Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Short have gone to Wenatchee, Wash., to live. Neva Short Is there, as is another daughter and her hus band. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dyer and daughter, Geraldina, of Redding, Calif., were visiting in Sprague River Sunday. Mrs. Dyer is a sister of Sy and Bill Pool. They also visited in the Ivan Pankey home. Ivy C. Clark has moved hi ranch house up near the high' way. Bob Hadley of Klamath Falls did the moving. This is a much better location and will be easier to add electricity when the wire is available. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Maxwell and daughter,. Dolores, Mrs, Lola Pankey and Miss Edith Pankey, Bonanza, called at the Ivan Pankey home Sunday. Velema Lee and Stanton Pool, children of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Pool, underwent tonsilectomys at the Klamath Valley hospital last Friday. Both are recovering nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Wylie and son, Jackie, have moved this week to Eugene where Mr. Wylie win be employed. Mrs. Paul Fuller and small son left this week to loin her husband in Missoula, Mont. Paul is in the air corns. Mrs. Irene Ough came out Tuesday and will spend the rest or the week visiting friends here. She is staying in the home oi Mrs. Lewis Croly. Mr. and Mrs. Capron of Em pire, Ore., are here for a few days. They olan to drive to Su sanvflle and see their daughter, Mrs. Dan Drake, and family be fore returning home. Mrs. Vernon Henry of Che mult, Ore., was here spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. L. Lenzi, the first of the week. Phyllis Lenzi came down from Chemult with her sister whom she had been visiting. D. M. Brown and family have moved here and are now located in one of the C. C. Heidrich cabins. There are other new comers, too. Mr. and Mrs. Miller are located in Hosely camp. Mr. Miller is th cook for the Morri son Knudson company who is doing some railroad work near here. Mrs. Francis Schultz under went an appendectomy at the Klamath Valley hospital Tues day, July 13. She is improving as well as can b expected. Wolford in Klamath Falls Tues day afternoon. Lloyd Bates has returned from Lakeview where he has been employed. He is staying with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Grace Ha gan. Mrs. Bates will remain In Lakevlew for a while. Miss Faye Kelly and Miss Sal- Jy Zadow were Klamath Falls visitors Tuesday. Frank Reynolds Is emDloved by Copco and works at the pumping station in Klamath Falls. He spent Thursday and Friday with his wife, Mrs. Grace Reynolds, and little daughter, Janice. These are the days he nas oil each week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hansen moved to Susanville, Calif., this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Drake and children also moved to Susan ville. Mt Laki Sylvia and Edwin Keady have spent' the past two weeks with their grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Boyd at Bly. Ethel and Donna Dixon nr. companied by Ann Stevenson of Olene, left Saturday morn in e for Girl Scout Camp Wildwood near Canby, Ore., where they will spend the next two weeks. Ethel and Ann will serve on the council staff. Word has been received here of the birth of A nnn hnrn in Mr and Mrs. Ira DeWitt, at Oregon City, July 8. The little fellow has been named John Lester and weighed six sounds and 14 ounces. Re ceiving a message from a broth er whom she has not seen sine 1803, Mrs. Dollle Lopei of Sprague River learned that h would visit her during th lat ter part of July, The adopted brother, Roy Hall, also expects to stop over in Orange, Calif., to visit another brother, Rev. Edwin Gehle. Nei ther he nor Mrs. Lopez hava seen Rev. Gehle for 40 years. Hall and his family are on their way to Washington from Carls bad, New Mexico. Hall has ac cepted an engineering position in Bremerton. Hall will visit with another sister, Mrs. Anna Proffitt, in Washington. Mrs. Lopez has not seen Hall since their father and mother died in 1903. In preparation for the reunion, Mrs. Lopez is re decorating the interior of her home. Worker Charged With Manslaughter ASTORIA, Ore., July 17 OP) Raymond L. Farris, 35, Portland shipyard worker charged wUh voluntary manslaughter in the death of his wife, Florence, here July 9, was bound over to a grand jury today after prelim inary hearing in justice court. A coast guard patrolman, Wil liam R. Gray, testified he saw Farris strike his wife and that she fell to the pavement. Ama dce J. Gendreau, another patrol man, said Mrs. Farris struck her head with a "sickening crack."
