L. Schafer of San Francisco, Pacific area manager, Schafer, In a letter to Execu tive Secretary Elizabeth Baker, quoted from a statement by Norman H. Davis at national headquarters on tied Cross basic policy: "... no charge shall ever be mado to any serv ice man for any Red Cross ar ticle or service which Is fur nished from the funds or sup plies contributed to the Red Cross." Investigation of the point was raised when a Klamath man, In service In Australia, wrote that ho was spending portion of his soldier's pay on items known to be available from the Red Cross. Schafer added that. In the past, incidents Involving sale of articles by tho Red Cross, traced to their sources, usually have been found to bo based on mis Information or misunderstand ing. Citizenship Exams Held at Courthouse Candidates for citizenship were examined at the court house Tuesday by Worthlngton Blackman, representing the de partment of immigration.
