'Sadie Hawkins' Party Given for Lakeview Elks LAKEVIEW The ladies aux iliary of the Lakeview ' Elkt were hosts to the lodge Satur day night at a "Sadie Hawkins" dance. Herb Cochran' orches tra from Klamath Falls fur nished music for the occasion. "Skonk" pie and "preserved tur- nips" were served by the ladies at midnight. Honor for the best costume went, to Dick Johns who was dressed as "Black Rufe," Mrs. Phil Carroll as "Mammy Yocum," John Blair as "Hairiest Joe" and Mrs. Faris Glfford as "Widow Fruitful." Altamont School Joins Roll Call Altamont elementary school teachers signed up 100 per cent in the annual Red Cross roll call, it was announced Wednes day. District Attorney Of Lake County III LAKEVIEW All action upon criminal cases in the local cir cuit court has been suspended for the next tlx weeks due to the serious illness of Charles H. Combs, district attorney for Lake county. Combs was rushed to Portland to a hospital this week upon the advice of local physicians. LAKEVIEW The Lake county court has intimated that it will offer two resolutions at tho state convention of county Judge and commissioner which will be held in Portland this week. The court will tcek the tup port of the convention for a bill recently introduced in con gress by Repretentative Walter Pierce and Senator Charles L. McNary, which bill providet for the payment to the countiet in cash of 25 per cent of the value of the national forest timber which is used to finance land exchanges. The other resolution will ask the president to halt the present national forest timber exchange program which it sweeping hundreds of thousand of acres of private property from the tax rolls, until arrangements are made to protect the existing rev enue of the local government. New Cashier Named For Dorris Bank DORRIS The Butte Valley State bank hat announced the acquisition of Ray Grace of Weed at the new cashier for the Dorr it bank. Grace hat been assistant cashier for approxi mately nine year in the First National bank of Weed and also was employed at one time by the Long-Bell Lumber com pany.
