ORB. c v Organizations Of Church Combine .Over 1100 Attend Charter Enrollment on Thurs day: Officers Elected for Year ' Tha charter meeting of the Methodist Women'i Society of Christian Service wai held In the First Methodist church par lors Thursday afternoon, September the nineteenth, In an au tumnal letting of fall flowers with asters In the pastel shades predominating. This new organization Includes all the former groups of women In Methodism and much enthusiasm for the new organization was shown by tha large group attending. Over a hundred women - signed as charter members but tha charter will remain open until October tha first . to allow all those unable to attend tha Thursday meeting to sign as charter members if they desire. An impressive and beautiful ceremony was ' carried out while the mem bers were signing the charter. Officers elected for the en suing year are Mrs. R. P. El lingson, president; Mrs. John Yaden, first vice president! Mrs. J. K. Reno, vice presi dent of missionary educations Mrs. Elizabeth Norris, vice president of Christian social , relations and local church ac tivities; Mrs. W. C. Van Era. An, recording secretary: Mrs. J. C. Hunt, corresponding seo- ; retary; Mrs. Lawrence Phelps, treasurer. Other assistants and committees were appoint ed to take charge of various activities and work of the 1 church. " Announcement of the pub lie installation of these offi cers will be made soon. A . committee is expected to at tend the state convention in Salem on October the third and fourth when plans for this new work will be stud led. Refreshments were served late in the afternoon by Mrs. Z. B. Redman and her com mittee. BOX SOCIAL' PLANNED BY ST. PAUL'S VESTRY Members of the vestry of St Paul's Episcopal church . are making plans for a gala' evening to be an event of Wednesday, September the twenty-fifth, when a box so cial and dance will be enjoyed In tha parish house. Admis-1 alon is "one box of food per ' couple," according to Mr. Lou Langworthy, chairman of so cial events. Dancing will start at nine 'clock and an orchestra has beta obtained for tha evening. -upper will be served at mid night when the boxes will be auctioned. Coffee will be served by the vestry. Triends have received word from Mr. and Mrs. F. Hill Hunter, formerly of this city, ' that they are building a new ' home in San Diego, California, where they expect to . reside . permanently. From $J 25 Girl Honored Lovely Shower Given At Parish Hall for Mar ion Turner LANGELL VALLEY One of the loveliest showers to be given this year was held at the Parish hall on Saturday afternoon, September the four-' teenth, in honor of Miss Marion Turner with Mrs. Wil liam Campbell, Mrs. Claude Murray and Mrs. Oscar Camp bell as hostesses. A profusion of beautiful autumn flowers decorated the large room. A complete set of California pottery was ar ranged on the table, a gift to the honored guest from a group of her friends. Mrs. Lucas will entertain in a fort night. brassiereby Valley Open House Observed Altar Society of Holy Cross Church Enter tains MERRILL Guests from Klamath Falls, Malin, Tule lake and Merrill were enter tained Sunday afternoon from two until five o'clock by the Altar society of the Holy Cross church at open house at tha church and parish house, re cently completed. The new home, one of the most at tractive in the south end, is occupied by Father James O'Conner. In the reception line were Mrs. W. C. Dalton, Malin, Mrs. E. M. Hammond, Merrill, Mrs. Hugh O'Conner, Merrill, Mrs. Francis Hannon, Tule lake, Mrs. George Yost, Tule lake and Mrs. N. H. Bogue, Merrill. Fall flowers In profusion were used about the living room, reception room and din ing room with dahlias pre- dominating. An arrangement of deep red dahlias in a crystal bowl centered the lace cov ered refreshment table flanked by silver tea and coffee serv ices. Pouring during the after noon were Mrs. John Gia cominl, Merrill, Mrs. John Dagnan, Merrill, Mrs. Richard Flynn, Tulclake, Mrs. Dan Cashman, Merrill, Mrs. Leon ard Petrik, Malin, and Mrs. C. C. Johnson, Malin. The beautiful ten room brick home was furnished com pletely by the Altar society and will be dedicated Septem ber the twenty-ninth when Bishop McGrath of the Baker diocese will be here for the services. Mrs. Jess Dieter is president of the society. STORK SHOWER ENJOYED BY .WESTSIDE GROUP. WESTSIDE After a short business meeting members and , guests of the Lakeview Relief society held a "stork party" the afternoon of September the tenth at the home of Mrs. Delos Price, west of Lake view, honoring one of their members, Mrs. Merle O'Neil of Westside. Five tables of a progressive game called Baby were in play, with Mrs. Lo rena Murphy the winner and Mrs. George Boone taking the booby prize. Candy-filled cra dle favors and cleverly folded napkins helped carry out the theme of the party when the hostess served refreshments. Climax of the afternoon came when Mrs. Garry Mor ris' small daughter wheeled In a beautiful hand-decorated bassinet, the club's gift to Mrs. O'Neil, with Mrs. Ada Ben nett's little baby in it and everyone singing "Rock-a-byo Baby." Among the guests were Mrs. Lillian Neilson, who was taken in as a new member of the club, Mrs. Joe Martin, Mrs. G. V. Treffinger, Mrs. Garry Morris, and Mrs. G. Boone. Next meeting will be at the clubhouse in Lake view on October the eighth. Flower Classes Next Week The flower class of the gar den study group, Klamath Falls Woman's Library club, ' will meet at 10 o'clock Mon day morning in the small club rooms of the city library. On Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock the Merrill flower group will meet at the home of Mrs. F. E. Trotman, Merrill, Both groups are under the di rection of Mrs. E. D. Lamb. The Eagles auxiliary met Thursday evening at the Eagles hall for a hard-times party followed by a potluck supper. "Cootie" was played until a late hour. There will be no meeting of the auxiliary next Thursday but a public pinochle party will be held, starting at eight o'clock. Similar parties will be held each Saturday eve ning at the Community hall on Garden avenue at eight o'clock and every Tuesday afternoon at the Eagles hall at two o'clock. Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis S. Moore, also of this city. The single ring service was read by Reverend Lawrence Mitchelmore, pastor of the Merrill Presbyterian church, in the manse in the presence of immediate rela tives of the young couple, both of whom have been ac tive for several years in church work. The bridge, given in mar riage by her mother, wore a street frock and hat of navy with a corsage of Cecil Brun ner roses and bouvardia. Her only attendant, Miss Virginia Haskins, also wore dark blue. Mr. Dale Moore, brother of the bridegroom, was best Mr. and Mrs. Moore, both graduates of the Merrill high school, left Immediately fol lowing the ceremony for i-oruana wnere the groom will enter the Western Bap- usi meological seminary to prepare for the ministry.
