TULELAKE CAFE CHANGES HANDS TULELAKE Lllllan't cafe owned and. operated for the past five months by Mrs. Dan Geaney, has been sold to Mrs. Fay Turney, of Red Bluff, who has taken over the management. The cafe Is located near the Tulelake Reporter office. Piatt, act ing superintendent. High rank ing representatives of the fed eral grazing service. Oregon State System of Higher Educa tion, Oregon State college and the biological survey, agencies cooperating In the station studies, will be In attendance. A crowa of several hundred stockmen and others from Oregon and sur rounding states Is expected to gather for the occasion. The day s program, starting at 10 o'clock, will Include view ing the station cattle and ranges, range reseemnf trials, sage gruo- blng results, plant nursery studies, reservoir type studies and other points of interest. Results to date will be reported and discussed. Carrying on a program of studies requested by the stock men themselves, the station of fers an unusual opportunity for range users to get togethor to view and discuss both the sta tion results and their Individual ranch problems, says Piatt. "Attendance fn past years has been excellent, but this year we expect a record crowd," Piatt predicted. "Range growing con dition tills spring have been vary favorable, and our manage ment results are showing up well. Thla work 'Is closely re lated to management practices now being applied by the graz ing service under provisions of the Taylor grazing act, and con cerns a large majority of range users In this area. Stockmen have become increasingly Inter ested in the whole range man agement problem. More and more of them are finding the Squaw butte studies of direct value on their own ranches. No other changes In the personnel were announced. Merrill Mr. and Mrs. Donald Colwall. who welcomed a new daughter on June 11 at the Merrill hos pital, have named the little girl Mary Jean. She weighed four and one half pounds at birth and is tha second daughter in the family. The mother was tho former Barbara Jenkins of Klamath Falls. Roberta Fruits and Evelyn Pierce will be guests of the Merrill Legion auxiliary when they attend Girls' State camp in the Silver Lake recreation area near Salem from June 23 to June 30, it was announced following this week's session of the auxiliary held at the home of Mrs. Elmer Stukel. Recom mendation of the two delegates was made by local school off i clals. Yearly reports that must be completed before the state con ventlon to be held at Seaside in September were heard and the poppy committee reported sale of 600 poppies this year. Mrs. R. L. Dalton, chairman of tha committee and members of the unit express appreciation for the support given by tha public. Present for tha meeting were Mrs. Lena Buck, Mrs. Bertha McCollum, Mr. Nora Voss, Mrs. Arleen Brown, Mrs. Warren Fruits. Mrs. Percy Pierce. Mrs. Fred Stukel and Mrs. Elmer Stukel. The first express superhigh way in the United States will soon b opened. The road runs for 160 mile from Middlesex, near Harrisburg, to Irwin, near Pittsburgh. The highway con tains seven tunnels.
