MODOC AREA GETS RECORD 4-INCH PRECIPITATION Word from the forest service at Alturas Is that record precip itation occurred at Whltehorae, In the Modoc area, last weekend. Between 4 a. m. Friday and 10 a. m. Saturday 4.00 Inches of rsln fell at Whltehorae. The Mc Cloud River Lumber company haa Installed complete weather bureau equipment at Whltehorae, and the precipitation waa record ed on a standard gauge. The telephone line went out and turthor Information was not available. It waa known, how ever, that it rained heavily after 10 a. m. Saturday. OBITUARY MARY ALICE POWELL Mary Alice Powell, a resident of Klamath Falls for the past six months, pissed away In this city on Tuesday,- December 12. at 7:15 p.. m. The deceased was a native of Hopklnsville, Ky., and waa aged 78 years and 20 days when called. She wss a member ot the Klamath temple. She Is survived by two sons, Wlllism Bacon of this city, and Henry of Gladewaler. Texas; one daugh ter, Mrs. Mary Lanier, of Long Beach, Calif.; one granddaugh ter, Mrs. John Kerlln of Klam ath Falls; also nine other grand children; one brother, Joe Stur dtvant ot Georgia.
