The revised strike order re lieves somewhat the seriousness ot the workers' action in that 20 jobbers, 17 of whom are mem bers ot the Automotive Tool and Dia Manufacturers Association, who met the terms ot the so ciety's demands, and scores ot plants outside the association, will continue to operate. Demands Stated Labor officials estimated that 100 Job shops, most ot them small, would be affected by the strike which was unanimous. The workers are demanding a 20 percent increase in wages and a 36-hour, five day work week. - The original strike order was to call the society's entire mem bership, estimated at 18,000, away from work in all the plants in the Detroit area, a move that would have tied up production of tine tools and dies used In the manufacture of motor cars. Forty tlve out of 62 member lob slants of .the Manufacturers' association will be affected by the strike order. Approximately 1400 men are employed in the 17 association plants that will contlnne to operate. Extent Undetermined In addition, the M. E. S. A. claims It has 6000 workers In Job plants not members ot the Manufacturers' Association and a similar number in larger manu facturing plants which are, not affected by tonight's strike vote. Developments of the next few days will determine the exact status of the situation. Matthew J. Smith, general secretary of the M. E. S. A., In announcing the strike decision, made the signifi cant remark tonight: "The strike will be very much on at 12 o'clock. It must be re membered, however, that any firm which meets our terms will not become involved in the strike." .
