When a com plete change ocean in the realm of fashion, it U reflected in every category of dreys morning, af ternoon and evening. Evening dresses, by reason cf their greater complication ol cut and sumptuousne&s. show the change less markedly as these features detract the attention. It Is another matter altogether so far as afternoon dresses ere concerned. . Kor some seasons rast. any element of a startling nature has been carefully with held from this type of gown. To cause a sensation these days is considered bad taste. Details, snch as a tew inches added to I he skirt length and a waist line a few Inches higher or low er, are Immediately registered, and are sufficient to modify com pletely the afternoon silhouette, especially aa most such models are distinguished by their so briety of cut. This season there are two kinds of afternoon dresses. Aside from the fluffy models made of chiffon and other such fabrics, the type of dress which bent char acterises this season's afternoon mode Is the adaptation of tail ored Ideas to materials hither to undreamed of. Thus this sea son w hare seen the use of georgette and other such soft fabrics for afternoon tailleura and the result Is invariably a model gifted with an aspect of great distinction to which can be applied that old-fashioned term "lady-like." The new afternoon ensembles are usually composed of a dress and Jacket of varying length. These are more or less simple of cut. . An afternoon dress .which Is designed to be worn without a coat has to show a more Intri cate cut and some sort of trim ming to enhance Its dainty and femluin charm. Now It Is true that the training of an older child who has made a wrong start is going to consist pretty much In breaking down un desirable habits of behavior. We must keep on with our little construc tive lessons and be on the alert about all the "preventions" which are so amazingly, important fear prevention. Inferiority prevention, jealousy, rago. selfishness and all kindred preventions. But even then the ground Is not covered. The child between six and twelve offers a special field of activity In training Just as Impor tant as that of his younger pre school brother. Let us see what sort of person this six-to-twelve youngster Is. During this period a child wid ens his experience with the exter nal or'1. Experiment character Ires nearly everything he does. Moreover his control over his mo tor nerves becoming more nearly perfect he starts out on a pro gram of play that takes him into new fields. The Young Adventurer This Is when he will try, and learn, If he has the opportunity, to swim, skate, go in for athletic games and ride a bicycle or horse back: also as he learns dexterity with his bands he will learn to use more Intelligently, tools, mu sical Instruments, and drawing pencils. It is at this time that a child should be tried In as many differ-1 ent directions is possible. His suc cess In later years may depend on encouragement and the early training he receives now.
