(AP) Thomas Lehew, convicted slayer of 7-year-old Theresa Johnson of Fort Bragg, was sentenced to hang Friday, Sept 13, at San Quentln prison by Superior Judge H. L. Preston of Mendocino county here today. Lehew, the stole woods man, accepted sentence calmly and permitted, no trace of emo tion to show of his face when the death sentence was pro nounced. Moore and family spent the latter part of the week in the city. Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Wilcox of Santa Ana. California have been visiting la Merrill at the home of their nephew, E. F. Merrltt. They left Monday for Klamath Falls to visit at the C. G." Merrill home. Richard Bogus returned from the hospital Thursday. He Is recovering from a major opera tion. Miss Edna Merrltt is in Mer rill visiting with Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Merrltt. Claude and Clifford Shuck left Thursday morning for Corn ing, California where they will visit with relatives for a short time. Rev. C. C. Hulet of Albany was a dinner guest at the G. W. Offield home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bibb of Albany visited at the O. H. Carleton home Sunday. Mr. Bibb is sup erintendent at Albany college. Miss Opal Tsylor Is visiting In Merrill from her home In Portland. Miss Taylor will re main here indefinitely. Miss Marlon King, a former resident here and a graduate of Merrill high school bas received the appointment as health nurse of Coos county. Miss Doris Robinson and James Stewart were married tn Merrill Saturday evening at the Presbyterian church. Rev. S. H. 'Jewell officiated. Only members of the immediate fam ily were present.
