But on the night of December 8, 1910, he was mysteriously shot at hla home near Forest Grove by an unidentified assailant. Nine years later he died from the wound, and during that period Miss Traver cared for him constantly. In' return for this service he en tered Into a contract with her to will ber his entire estate. Nay lor died In 1920, without having made the will. His fiancee, how ever, was able to substantiate the contract to the satisfaction of both tbe circuit and supreme courts.
