Until a young man named Lindbergh came along Dick was pretty generally considered the country's leading aviator and he apparently Intends to regain that distinction In the near future, having a flight to the south pole In mind at toon at this business of spanning the Atlantic Is over. Then there la Harry. - To the nation at large he isdeas well known than Dick but not to Virginia. In rase yoh have forgotten. Harry Flood Byrd la the governor ot -the state and la counted a very good one and a very popular one, too. In Virginia the name Byrd does not by any means mean simply the man who flew over the north pole. Finally there la Tom. The coun try at large knows him not at all. Yet be mutt be well worth knowing. Lacking the flare for direct action that motivates Dick and Harry, hit career has been, on the whole, quiet and obscure. Tet in 117, when the call to arms came, Tom was one of the first sons of the Old Dominion to volunteer. Ho served well In France, making a record for bravery and fidelity to duty under fire.
