Allen Mac Laren, Portland youth, is expected at the state penitentiary today to be gin serving his four year term for a statutory crime committed in Clackamas county. Both his father, W. G. MacLaren, welfare and pris on rescue worker of Portland, and former member of the state parole board, and the lad's mother, have made personal appeals, to' Governor Pierce to extend leniency to the youth, but the governor has been un yielding. Gladwyn Lawpaugh, ano ther youth implicated in the crime, is serving five years, and a third one, Archie Livingstone, was paroled from the bench by Judge Campbell of Clackamas county. Getting Steadily Worse Pecholt was released from Jail Sunday and wandered home in a semi-conscious condition. His con dition has been getting, steadily Worse and it Is frankly admitted that his chances for rcovery are slight. He has been In a comatose condi tion and to questions from friends and his wife, lie has only answer ed with inarticulate mumbling. One of Pecholt s boarders, who declined lo reveal his name, made tho following statenreatt "They say that ho was struck by an automobile. It would seem to me that any man struck down by on automobile hard enough to frac ture a Bkull, would have some sign of dirt or a tear an his clothes. Not so with Mr. Pecholt. When ho came back home Sunday nfternoon, his clothes were In the same condi tion as when he left, without a spot or a tear." Pecholt, It was revealed, had drawn a check fur $200 Saturday afternoon and started out with the apparent purpose of purchasing liquor.
