East side irrigation unit of Lang ell valley will, for the first tinia. be placed, under the jurisdiction of the Langell Valley Irrigation Dis trict board next spring, according to announcement this morning by W. D. Newell, prject manager of the Klamath Irrigation district. "it will, mean that 14,000 more acres of irrigable land will be in cluded within the board's jurisdic tion," Mr. Newell explained. "The reason it was not turned over to the board last year was the neces sity of control by the reclamation office, while construction and" de velopment work were in progress. D. Newell, project manager of the Gerber dam project, and the digging of ditches to serve the farmers on the east side of the valley, there ia no reason why the unit should not be turned over to the district." Irrigation on the east side of. the valley will begin on a, large scale next spring. The new unit will bei separate and distinct from the Klamath Irrigation district, but will be under the supervision of tho reclamation service. John Turner is president of the' district, A. E.
