Phone 317 Autoist Injured In Motor Smashup Eight stitches were required to close the wound in Jack Pullin's head the result of being thrown through the windshield of his car late Satur day night, returning to Klamath Falls over the Qreen Springs moun tain highway. Pullin was making a turn on the mountain road, several miles west of Plnehurst Inn, when he drove too close to the edge of the road, his car striking a stump with enough force to throw him through the wind shield. He was picked up by a party of motorists from Grants Pass who United Slates Senator -Robert N St.inflold. Dunbar was booked to speak on the city manager plan but this has been postponed. Senator Stanfleld Is chairman of the Senate commttteo on public lands and a member of the commit tees on claims, finance, civil ser vice and post offices. The senator will leave for Washington, D. In examining the wound it was found that a large piece of glass from the windshield had lodged in the wound. Friends of Pullin from here brought him to the city for medical Uentlon late Saturday night and he is reported to be nicely recovering from his Injuries. Pullin's car, which was badly wrecked, was brought to the city by a wrecker late Sunday afternoon. Jail Prisoners Checkmated in Escape Attempt Another attempt to break out of Klamath's notoriously porous Jail was frustrated Saturday evening when officers discovered improvised hack saws and other Implements which would facilitate escape, care fully hidden within the Jail. Inves tigation revealed that the prisoners had tried to dig their way through the plaster walls. The escape was scheduled, It Is believed, for Saturday night. The prisoners were to slide down an im provised knotted blanket rope, to the ground below. Peace officers suspect "Slim" Carlson 'and Walter Jacobsen as ring leaders in the movement to escape. AI.VKHA GUBSER With close friends in attendance, funeral services for Mrs. Alvera Gubser, wife of H. H. Gubser. gov ernment trapper, were held this af ternoon at 2 o'clock at Whltlock's funeral home. After the services, the body was taken to Bonanza for interment. Mrs. Gubser succumbed In a local hospital early Saturday afternoon from septicemia. MABLE LOWVER The final chapter in the tragic death of Mable Lowver, 19-ycar-old Indian girl, was enacted yesterday afternoon, when funeral services were held at Sprague river. The body was Interred in the Sprague River cemetery. Miss Lowver was killed last week In an automobile accident on The Dalles-California highway. Work Progresses On River Bridge Abutments and the fill on the new Harpold Dam bridge across Lost river have been completed and work will soon commence on the actual construction of the span, ac cording to Frank Z. Howard, coun ty road engineer. Word from Langeil valley that the temporary bridge across Lost River dam to replace the disinte grated Malone bridge, had collapsed, has brought home to the county court the necessity of completing as many of the projected spans across Lost river this fall as pos slble. ELKS BACK FROM PRINEVILLE MEET The .delegation from the Klam ath Falls lodge of Elks returned last night from Lakcvlew where they spent the week end and under special dispensation Initiated a largo class Into the local lodge. There was a large attendance and after the ceremonies there was a banquet. The Lakevlew Elks will send a large delegation to Klamath Falls on Friday, December 11th. when the District Deputy and the Presi dent of the State Association visits here. Barry, near Merrill. It was u well attended meeting, and one of the best that the association has held since Its reorganization over n year ago. Klamath sheep men pointed out to George Lyon of Alturns that the grazing season could be lengthen ed by one month. Mr. Lyon admit ted the possibility and promised that if conditions Justified tbis would be done next year. Klamath sheep men have been de sirous for some time for substan tial roads to allow Ingress and egross to the lambing ranges near Clear lake. Interested members of the association came to an agreement with Mr. Lyon, whereby the neces sary roads would be built on a 60- 50 basis, the forest service defraying one halt of tho expense and the sheep men tho other half. Mr. Lyon Informed the associa tion that he waa preparing estimates and naming tentative locations for new wells on the forest, a project which has been sought by the asso ciation for months. The costs will be given to tho association which will endeavor to securo a small ap propriation from congress to finance the project. Word was received at the mooting that as a direct result of tho pre datory animal control mcoting held here In Klamath Falls last month and sponsored by tho Woolgrow- era association, that Modoc county had for the first time in its history appropriated money for coyote con trol work. The amount was 11000. The association wont on record as favoring tne present county- state-United States Biological 8or- vlce, cooperative scheme of'predatory J animal control work over the bounty j system. It adopted a resolution ex pressing sympathy for H. H. Bub ser, whose wife died in Klamath Falls Saturday afternoon. OBITUARY MRH.
