IP) An entire block of buildings in i Montreal was laid waste last night and early this morning by one of the most spectacular fires the city ever experienced. The blaze, under a halt gale spread rapidly and soon enveloped the entire block. The building con sumed consisted of 20 or more dwellings, a large apartment house, an ice plant and other houses. No estimate has-been made of tho damage. The casualties were com paratively small. Most of these reported consisted of several firemen being overcome by smoke or cut by flying glass.
